Nothing at all, beside... I ate the Sekuteng while watching Belgium beat England last saturday and it was raining that night😄. Anyone know what Sekuteng is?

Okay.. My Indonesian Friends😉 You can add your information on the reply and My Achenese Friends😃 you know this is something like we used to call Bandret😂and until the end 2016 before I left Aceh, nobody sell Bandret by pushing his cart around the town and correct me if I am wrong, we already had some men selling this around in Banda Aceh but We'd preferred to go to Pak Sen to buy original bandret or bandret susu😆.

Sekuteng

Sekuteng is a well-known traditional hot drink based on Ginger from Central Java. Ahhh... maybe it's something like Ginger Ale? I don't know, never drink Ginger Ale before😊. But according this information Sekoteng dan Sejarahnya this hot drink name came from "Nyokot Weteng" in Javanese or "to bite the stomach" and there's a probability also an adaptional hot drink from " su kho thung or si guo tang" or 4 fruits porridge from the Qin Dynasty (221-226 AC).

So how's the taste? It's sweet, hot and yummy. Yeah, you can make it by yourself because it's so simple and quick serving and you can change the additional ingredients. The base is Ginger or Red Ginger. Uhmm.. do you want me to share "The How To?" Though you can find the recipes on Google? Do I need to wait for the sales man coming to ask his recipe? 😉 I'd prefer waiting him to buy a bowl of that delicious drink with IDR 5K or 50 cents USD😊

All right😅 I made up my mind and create this recipe in my mind just now, and don't blame me if you keep try it unsuccessfully.

• 700 ml water
• 5 cm Fresh Ginger, punch it
• 50 grams palm sugar
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 2 rods lemongrass (skip it and add cinnamon bark about 3 cm as subtitution)
• 1 pieces pandan leaf (skip it and add mint leaf instead)

Boils them altogether for 10 minutes and now it calls ginger soup.

Prepare These:
100 grams green bean, boils till well cooked
30 grams sautee peanuts
2 slices plain bread cut into dice shape
50 grams of sugar palm fruit aka kolang-kaling aka boh jok aka buah atap (skip it and add coconut jelly instead)
30-50 grams of boiled pearly tapioca beed.

Put them in a bowl and pour it with the ginger soup. You can add some sweetened milk if you want to. Drink it while still warm but you can add ice cubes if you like it to be a hot-cold Sekoteng.

How come this will bite your stomach or nyokot weteng? You know the taste and effect of ginger right? Tell me if you need me to write about the benefit of ginger later😁
