NextColony Update: I Need More Coal and Ore!

I am changing my NextColony strategy and this post tells how and why I am doing that.

I just wrote an introductory post 5 days ago about the details of my account over there with strategies I was using.

Today I took a look at my mining numbers and they have made me focus and change my ways.

We have four resources on @nextcolony:

• Coal
• Ore
• Copper
• Uranium

TLDR:

• I am not mining enough Coal and Ore now for current needs.
• I am mining too much Copper for current needs.
• My Uranium mining is enough for current needs.

Here is how I came to those conclusions. First let's look at my "Buildings" screen.

My Mines

I do not have enough Ore to increase my Coal Mining.

I do not have enough Coal to increase my Ore Mining. I also do not have enough skill, so I need to upgrade that first anyway.

If you look along the top line at my current levels, you can see I have a lot of Copper already. I do not want to increase this now. I can't increase it even if I did want to since I do not have enough skill.

I do not have the resources or skill to increase Uranium mining. I have enough Uranium for the moment anyway.

My depots

Look how much my Coal Depot will hold! I will not have to worry about this for a long time to come since I use up all my coal on upgrades long before this point.

My Ore Depot also has huge capacity compared to my current levels of production and use, but I did not screenshot it.

I do need to increase my Copper Depot soon. It's coming in faster than I can use it.

My Uranium Depot is fine for at least another week. No screenshot.

My Skills

Now we have moved to the "Skills" screen. I cannot upgrade any mining skills now since I do not have enough resources.

Surprise! I need more Coal and Ore STAT!

My plan is to increase Coal first to 15. Then Ore to 15 and then Uranium to 14 after that.

Then I will increase Coal and Ore up to 16.

My Copper Depot skill is upgrading now. I will increase the Depot on the building screen after the mines get to level 14.

This will give me more Copper storage but probably not enough, so I will have to keep increasing. If not, I will start overflowing and losing Copper. Oh the horror!

My Production Rates

As I can, I will continue to increase the Coal and Ore Production rates. It's not expensive in resources but took 5 days this time! I can't wait to see the time and cost for the next level in a couple of days from now.

And here is me now. Meta-Skill level 150. Five days ago on the last report I was 133. Not too bad!
