Searching for Motivation: Wednesday Walk

in #esteem7 years ago (edited)

I've gotta be honest with you, I am not feeling that motivated today. At least as far as Steemit is concerned.

It's not for any specific reason, I am just having a hard time coming up with something to write about. I had a picture ready of my reward cards from Steem Monsters that I was going to post today.

I guess I shouldn't have waited so long...

Somehow I lost the picture though and now here I am trying to find something to fill the gap. Call this a crap post, I don't really mind. If it were up to me, I'd be a lot happier if life were imitating the art to the right.

Talk about a great way to spend your day, resting up in the middle of the day for the fun that awaits you that night. Instead, I am in the middle of a "Winter Weather Advisory" looking at about 4 inches of snow on the ground and it's still coming down!

Alright, I have it, I am going to turn this into a #wednesdaywalk post. Get ready as I share with you some pictures I took many years ago on a visit to New York City. I know they won't be anywhere near as awesome as the pictures from NYC that @tattoodjay posts, but each of these brings back memories of warmer days and a different lifetime for me.

I am not sure if it is still there, but there used to be a building in Queens near the site of the World's Fair that has this model of New York and all of the boroughs in it. It takes up a whole room and is a pretty awesome thing to see.

Also in the same area and part of the World's Fair complex, you might remember these from the movie "Men in Black".

This is the Unisphere. We spent probably two to three hours wandering around this area. It was quite a ride to get out here using the mass transit system. It was one of the few times I can remember being on the subway and not being in a tunnel in New York.

Here is a black and white shot of the Unisphere with Arthur Ashe Stadium in the background. Arthur Ashe Stadium is where the US Open tennis tournament is hosted.

The Flushing Meadows area of Queens is also home to Citi Field where the New York Mets play baseball. This is the only shot I got of the stadium.

Edit: It was brought to my attention because of the time I took this photo, that would have to be Shea Stadium not Citi Field.

Apparently there is a zoo out this way too that I am actually shocked we didn't visit.

Here is a closer view of the entrance to Arthur Ashe Stadium...

Another angle of the "flying saucer" things...

And a closeup of my neck of the woods on the Unisphere.

I have a bunch more pictures that I might share in another post (or two). Today, I will leave you with a night shot I took from a rooftop in Brooklyn...

I have been there and done that in regards to lack of motivation. We all have those days. The important thing is to get some rest, focus our minds, and start a new day tomorrow.

See you around.

Thanks, I appreciate it!

LOL, from that first photo... I wasn't sure if this was really going to be a real #wednesdaywalk post! However, things did turn the corner!

I only vaguely remember MiB... I have to watch it again, it was a great movie! Did you know they are doing another one?

Yeah, I just heard that a little bit ago!

For someone who had no motivation, this turned into a lovely post, really great photos you've shared with us so thank you!
I think we all have those days, sometimes I can think of so many things to write about...or cook before I write about that...and that's when I should be making notes but I don't!
Sure you'll have plenty of inspiration soon :)

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Isnt it so frustrating whe your get up and go gets up and goes without you, AKA lacking motivation, Hope it make sit was back to you soon, but it did lead to this cool post

I am glad I am not the only one who calls those towers the flying Saucer thingies, :) and I always think of M.I.B when I see, them not that I have been to this area for a long while, but when I used to live in Queens i would pass by them often.
That place witht heMiniature City i have never heard of and wonder if it is still there I will have to do some research

Flushing Meadows really has a lot going on with the Stadiums and such

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk !tip

Yeah, it is just one of those days I think :) That place is called the Queens Museum. It is the big building right by the Unisphere. It looks like it is still open. There wasn't a lot of people around when we were there, but I bet this area was hopping when the World's Fair was held here.

I just looke dit up and WOW how did I ever Miss this, the MModel is over 10,000 Square feet N=and now its on my List of places to check out, I am still so surprised I had never heard of it, I thought i knew the city well, and it snot like its new it was built in the 60’s LOL

Yeah I remember when we were there it was right after 9-11 so they did this:

A word of advice, the room is huge and the lighting was (might not still be) horrible so make sure you are prepared for that possibility.

That is a nice touch they added, and thanks for the warning avbout the lighting , :)

Howdy sir bozz! pretty cool post for not having anything to post about, I think it came out really well and these are some great pictures!

Thank you!

Love the pics. Is that the old Shea stadium ?? I guess they all want money and change it to Corporate names anymore

Yes, you are correct. I did some research and based on the time I took that photo it would have been Shea Stadium. I will edit the post now :)

I do love NYC! What a great place to remember taking a walk!

It is pretty awesome. I hope to share some more photos in the future. I'd have even more if smart phones had been around back then.

Isn't that the truth? All of my trips to NYC were in the 80s and 90s and any photos I have were taken with a film camera. I think back on those days and oh my goodness the things that I saw that I would have taken photos of if I would have had a digital camera! . All of my travels to Europe- I would have loved a digital camera then , too.

I can only imagine. I was going through some of my old photos the other day wondering if I should digitize them. Just not sure I have the ambition though...

I did spend a lot of time digitizing old photos. But there are still boxes and boxes of photos left to go and it is a lot of work! I have not made the effort. I guess I keep hoping they will come up with a more efficient way to do it!

I hear you there!
