Worked Hard, Finish It On Time....Now Throw It Into The Bin!

For the past two weeks, me and my colleague was tasked to prepare the documentations for a project tender. We have been toiling inside the office preparing it from 8 to 5 everyday.

Today we managed to finish about 80% of the work, just a few more print outs to do and we are all good for its submission by Monday next week. Not until my boss saw the news in the local paper this morning.

The tender that we were doing belongs to the Federal Government, but in the front page of today's newspaper claims that the State Government will takeover the said project. Which means, the tender that we are doing now became meaningless as there are a 80% chances that it will become obsolete. If the State Government managed to take it over, then the tender will surely be tendered again soon.

While working on this tender, I myself personally have difficulties sleeping at night just thinking about it. Even in the office, my bosses kept on pestering me to finish it on time, 2 days earlier than the submission date.

It was a bit worrisome, as most of the documents that need to be submitted is not available, and me and my collegue has to start from scratch. It took a toll on us, we even have a shorter lunch hour just to finish off the work, but now, all our hard work became redundant.

Anyway, looking on the bright side of it, these documents that we have prepared might be useful for future tender. If any future tender requires the same documentations, we will be prepared in advance for it. I just hope my bosses acknowledges our effort and hard work.
