IJCH - Inside JaiChai's Head (Meaning: My Warped, Personal Opinions and Musings)
From the Author:
Salutations.
I am JaiChai.
And if I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you before, I'm delighted to make your acquaintance now.
I invite you to interact with everyone, learn, and have as much fun as possible!
For my returning online friends, "It's always great to see you again!"
Perusing Old Comments and Conversations
I was freeing up some hard drive space and ended up perusing a bunch of old comments and conversations from last year.
A few of them reminded me of recommendations from friends that I wanted to read or view, but forgot and never followed up on.
For example, upon meeting and making friends with @vimukthi online, we quickly discovered that we are both Ayn Rand fans.
He recommended "The Fountainhead" and it wasn't until yesterday that I downloaded the 1949 movie and watched it.
In a word? AWESOME!
I immediately identified with the main character - Howard Roark.
The rich cast of characters run the whole gamut of life stations and ulterior motives, such as the rich girl lover, the spineless friend, the conniving columnist, and the cowardly benefactor.
And the plot had me riveted to my black and white screen!
"The Fountainhead" Book by Ayn Rand - Introduction Without Spoilers
The Fountainhead is a 1943 novel by Russian-American author Ayn Rand, her first major literary success.
The novel's protagonist, Howard Roark, is an individualistic young architect who designs modernist buildings and refuses to compromise with an architectural establishment unwilling to accept innovation.
Roark embodies what Rand believed to be the ideal man, and his struggle reflects Rand's belief that individualism is superior to collectivism.
I highly recommend the book and/or the movie (links to follow).
Enjoy.

About the Author
Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an AA, BS and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life – while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic.
In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he performed high altitude, free-fall parachute jumps and hazardous diving ops in deep, open ocean water.
After 24 years of active duty, he retired in Asia.
Since then, he's been a full-time, single papa and actively pursuing his varied passions (Writing, Disruptive Technology, Computer Science and Cryptocurrency - plus more hobbies too boring or bizarre for most folk).
He lives on an island paradise with his teenage daughter, longtime girlfriend and three dogs.
sweet write up.
I just might give it a try after your review @jaichai.
I can't remember if I watched the movie or not. I think I did. But the book, incredible! If you haven't read the book, you should read the book.
Are you suggesting an illegal download , sir!!!
lol - I'm downloading now...
My lawyers say that my "Claimer" sucks! Lol!
Thanks for visiting and commenting.
May you and yours be well and love life today.
Namaste, my friend.

Awesome choice of movie and book! I read Atlas Shrugged many years ago when I was in the Navy. I have been an Ayn Rand fan ever since.
Namaste!
Glad you loved it. The movie did a decent job for its time and so did the Atlas Shrugged part 1 (for it's tiny budget and development hell).
If you want more great Black & White:
All About Eve (1950)
Double Indemnity (1944)
Touch of Evil (1958)
Citizen Kane (1941)
Metropolis (1927)
I don't normally say this. But in the case of The Fountainhead, nothing beats reading the book.
Thanks for the reqs. I watched both Double Indemnity movies before.
I'm sure you're right. Most of the time, the book beats the movie...
Namaste, my friend.

Wow, I saw this movie so long ago that I barely remember it - definitely need to watch it again soon. Thanks for reminding me about it, @jaichai!
gotta find time for a good movie =)
Looks like a movie my hubby might enjoy!
