6 Things I've learned in college

in #english6 years ago

Hi everyone! You can call me Tess. Actually, I study informatics.
The university consumes 90% of my time, so I've decided that my first post will be dedicate it to this second house.
In my journay so far I have learned many things, not only related to my career, covers more than that.
This is have been an awesome experience. So hard the most of the time, but without a doubt, it's meaningful.

Next, 6 of the most important things that this study house it has allowed me to realize, improve and grow:

1- Don't procrastinate

A very common action that we all commit. But, when it comes to postponing your academic activities, means adding unneccessary stress to the future, which you could have avoided, fulfilling your responsibilities on time.
It's simple, you can not wasting time to been a lazy person.

2- Optimize your time

Now, going out with your friends can not be first to study for that next exam of mathematics. Planning is the key, as well as establishing priorities. Your personal relationships will be there yet, when you are finish.
The way you take advantage of the day, and its 24 hours, they make the difference.

3- Know yourself

It is said that each person is a world. Taking that saying to the area of studies, it has a lot
reason. Each person has a different rhythm in their life. Your understanding of things will not be the same as that of other people.
There are those kinds of people who understand things more easily than others, those whose performance is high in mathematics, but low in history.
that seems more comfortable
study at night, instead of doing it in the day, that they support more hours without sleep, and infinities
of differences more.

Do not base your schedule and study program on someone else. Do not compare yourself, know
your weaknesses, and strengths, is more useful.

4- Review the closest to the class

Well, one of the best recommendations is to review, and no, not days later. Review the new
Information obtained as soon as possible after class is essential.

The German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus who studied memory and its mechanisms describes that
After an hour, approximately half of the information learned is forgotten. And one day
then we are able to remember 30%.

In my personal experience, applying this is really good. As your teacher progresses with the subject,
you will advance with him, keeping everything fresh, understood, and up to date. I learn so much better in this way.

5- Pomodoro time

This is basically a method that establishes a certain time to focus your attention
exclusively in that task, after the time is up, you take a break, and you start again
but with a set time greater than the previous one.

I have downloaded an app, where the time is divided in the following way:

  *First session*

45 min of study, and 5 min of break.

   *Second session*

50 min of study and 10 min of break.

   *Third session*

55 min of study and 15 min of break.

Why should you try Pomodoro time?

Pomodoro time is a method of implementing discipline, without forgetting the breaks, but
also without abusing them.

6- Humility

In college you will not only learn from your subjects, you will also learn from people.
You will meet many types of people, some of them may teach you that you do not want to become
in them.

I met selfish people, people with easier retention and understanding to new information, having that agility fed their self-esteem. The problem came, when by that agility they began to visualize themselves superior to you, to others. They made themselves believe that yes, maybe you could improve, but not to reach the level where they were, much less overcome them. In their minds, there was no possibility that you could realize or understand something that they did not.

Some of them used to be my friends, but who needs friends that don't believe really in you?

Beware of what your self-esteem can create.

Do not make yourself ideal
do not denigrate
Do not underestimate.
Help the others.

                                                        Thanks so much for reading.
