The Engagement League - Sponsored by @curie

This league is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.

Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations over the past couple of weeks.

I've used some metrics (which is the fancy way of saying that made up some numbers) relating to:

  • Posts (P)
  • Comments - number of (C)
  • Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
  • Number of people spoken to (PS)
  • Comments - length in characters (C L)
  • Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
  • Upvotes to others (V)
  • Upvotes to different authors (U V)
  • Self-votes - a (getting smaller each week) minus score for this one sorry! (S V)

Firstly, if you are placed in the table above then you among the top 25% of the league entrants!

Congratulations to this weeks Engagement League winner, @janton! ๐Ÿ†

Yep, he's done in again, @janton is way ahead and takes first prize for something like the 765443 week!

@smithlabs is in 2nd with an excellent final score, a really good attempt at bridging the gap to the runaway leader.

And in 3rd spot, @delishtreats is in 3rd with a host of entrants clipping at her heals.

Excellent engagement levels also from @macoolette, @steemflow, @maquemali, @brittandjosie, @chekohler, @veryspider, and @cicisaja, who will all be receiving some STEEM this week.

Those without a self-vote (from their main account at least! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ) and placed in the top ranks will also receive a little STEEM. These people are: @scrawly, @bengy, @niallon11, @coinsandchains, @gillianpearce, @melinda010100, @cryptocopy, @herbertholmes, and @lynncoyle1.

Well done everyone!

The end column is what I think is a genuine indicator of how well you are financially working the curation game with the tools, including vested Steem Power, that you have at your disposal.

Congratulations @steemitri!

Another week, another powerful performance from @janton. I think we need to start him off about -30000 point for the week. Just to see how much he will win it by then. Nice job man and excellent work. Anybody putting in that much graft every week deserves the win.

What I actually find the most interesting stat from the league is the fact that there are only 5 self votes between the top twenty peole over the whole course of the week. I think that's amazing. Not only have you managed @abh12345 to get hundreds of people more active on the site, you have actually managed to condition people into a whole different mindset for operating their accounts. I know personally that i would have always up voted my actual posts during the week, not the comments but whatever i was blogging. Whereas now i have not up voted myself once in the past few weeks.

Yep, it's a lot of time and effort for sure, and a prize well deserved.

For most of the top 20, the prize pays more than a weeks worth of self-votes - certainly on posts alone. I wonder how many would keep this approach if there were no prizes?

Cheers Niall!

No worries. Everything on here worth doing takes time and effort and the people who have realized that tend to be the ones who are doing well. They are in it for the long haul.

It would be an interesting social experiment to see how people would vote without the rewards as we know that incentives work. I think that if a person had been conditioned for long enough not to do it then they would more than likely not restart self - voting. However a person that had only just stopped in order to try and win the steem would probably go straight back to it. Mindset is hugely important for anything and it takes a lot of hard work and effort to change a persons mindset on anything. Especially when there are money or rewards involved.

That applies to the world in general but we do have a lot of well intentioned people on the site so maybe the result would be different on steemit to a business of some sort....????

Looks like @smithlabs has a very good chance at @janton, Just look at the comment length stats, simply amazing numbers. Yep there could be some solid book commenting coming up soon, I like the longer comments especially when attached to a very well done post, the amount of additional input is always appreciated by myself, and I am sure others. beats the pis out of "Nice Post - Posted with ulog/partiko, busy or whatever tag line" comments.

Myself, a little improvement on most numbers from last week. Up from 44th last week to 40 this week and comment length getting better again up to 46000. Still wish I could get around to voting on more people and varied accounts, but I am trying to keep my vote relevant, so if you see miss or not voting on a comment to my content, I have tried to go and vote on a content of yours so you can have some vote benefit other than seeing it dusted off. A good week, I had some fun, and looking forward to the coming week.

It's a good starting point anyway. I only joined a few weeks ago and I'm fairly sure that week I was in position number 44. Once I saw what was required that gave me a huge push the following week and made it into the top 10.

Part of it was from following the right people. A lot of the people on this list post good content which is important and when you give a good and thoughtful comment they will reply in kind. That's where most of mine came from was having proper discussions rather than one off commenting which is slow, time consuming and can be a bit boring. When I found the right people and posts it became a lot easier.

It's actually week 34 for me, I have slowed down a little bit and well there have been a lot of new people join/ask to have their curation and engagement levels tracked. I don't know if I started the count correctly, by the way I have been counting, Next week - -will be the - - - 50th - - - week of Asher tracking people by their request. and will be week 35 for me. I am not much of a numbers person, but he has the numbers available and puts out a nice list. I used to be up in the top ten at one time, but I was doing much much more commenting. I expect it will pick back up when it starts to snow again and gets real cold. I am also hoping the price of steem will go up just a little bit to where I can vote for more content, and return to voting on the comments left on my post.

I didn't even realise it had been going for that long. I would be the same as yourself and in summer am a lot busier so I don't really go onto the site much at all. Now that the weather has gone bad I spend a lot more evenings in the house so my interaction has gone up accordingly.

What I have noticed from the few weeks I've been following the league is that it gets tougher every week. When I compared the points over a few weeks you needed a higher amount every time to make the top twenty. Obviously the new people joining every week have driven up the competition massively. I can only imagine how big the difference is since you joined 34 weeks ago. I think that we all hope the price goes back up since the motivation between seeing one cent votes to ten cent is a huge difference.

The vote price difference is a big thing. And yes the engagement levels are increasing it seems every week. Not so much for the award of being in the top ten of the league, I think it is just that people are learning that it really is okay to make a comment on a post. It took me when I first joined steemit a little bit to get into the flow of leaving comments, and then I had a comment flagged, and that slowed my commenting down somewhat, but I quickly overcame that minor set back and moved on and decided I was going to look at steemit as they advertised it to me a Social Crypto site, so I started trying to be more social, If I read an Authors story and I liked it and I voted on it by god I had a right to comment on it, and I did, on a lot of Stories. Steemit has some amazing story tellers, and they like getting feed back. I thought that was great when i first joined. Now I have gotten so busy on steemit that I rarely have time to read some of the stories, but I still do on occasion. Anyway that was how I first got into commenting.

Like I said, I think more and more people are seeing steemit as more than a Cryptocentric environment, people are starting to have fun and enjoy themselves here. We all at one time or another want to share our thoughts and opinions on things that others say.

Congratulations!! 4 steps higher is not bad, its a big inprovement! May you climb up more steps this week..

I agree, those two are battling over a huge turnout! They have been commenting like there ars not human hahahaha.. i always wonder where they get all their energies!

Always done with a plessure!

@paulag add in this league my user name is @steemjetdiscord

Wow! Look like my formula is doinh better than I predikted! I am now number 61 on L1!

@cicisaja, wow! Top 10!
@lynncoile1! Wow! Top 19! Or is it @linncoyle1? ๐Ÿ˜€
@glenalbrethsen, seems like you didn't spend much time on Steem this week. Hope everything's fine.

And, Asher, please do expand the L2 table, I couldn't find my name on it. Thanks.

100 makes that list pretty long I think. You finished in 110th place on the Curation League - close!

Hey, @aneukpineung78.

I didn't spend that much time. I hope to spend my normal amount this week as long as the powers that be can keep the blockchain running and quit running into bugs that seize it all up. Sheesh.

Things are okay, my wife is much better and relaxing now with her sisters in Mexico and hopefully will continue to take it easy for the duration of her trip.

I never find my name on the curation table, so you're in good company. You might want to figure out how to get up the table, though. And then when you do, tell me how you did it, will ya? :)

i saw your name everywhere in steemit!

I'm not sure if this is good or bad!

do you work for steemit?

hehe :)

Nope, I'm just a guy who cares a lot for Steem!

Cool i got it. Loyal for steemit!

Thank you Asher! I expected some improvements but NOT like that! This is what happens when I'm spending a week at my in laws while my husband is traveling on business, lol!

Congratulations everyone!!!

Two good reasons to escape to Steem!

Congratulations on your 3rd place finish @delishtreats!

Woow first time in months that I made it to the list!

What's going on here then?!

No idea. Just found some interesting posts and discussions.

Not a bad result then. A few more weeks like this and you'll be well on you way to that dolphin status. The more you talk the more you earn. Just need to get up to the top of the list next.

Just noticed that I do need to double my engagement to get into the top 10.
I used to be there frequently, but real life things are taking over :)
Already glad that I made it to the list since the beginning of July. Will be glad if I can stay in the list!

At least you know where you stand with the list. It can be done even if it takes a lot of time and effort. I think that you get a great benefit from doing it too. Not from whatever prize that you earn but from the people that you end up interacting with because you are being so active on the site.

I have gained more votes and followers in the past two weeks of stepping up my game compared to the two months before that. It's a win win.
