Bornholm - part I - Østerlars Kirke

Since Bornholm as an island was exposed to pirates and because it was divided between the King and the Archbishop which didn't have the best of understandings, in 1150 Osterlars Kirke was built. 1 of 4 church fortresses on the island, it was both a church and a means of shelter for the people on the island in which they could retreat.
