Drawitbetter Contest #22 – The Simpsons Characters. All behind Homer!

in #elegance6 years ago

This is my work for @sirsensei ‘s contest.

I do not really like the characters, because unfortunately I do not get my own. And I do not like copying. But sometimes it is necessary)) Here and this time, the theme of the competition is The Simpsons. I know that there is such a cartoon, I even know the names of some characters, but I myself watched the cartoon well if a couple of times. Something I did not like ....
Today I paint on the craft with watercolor markers and pencils derwent drawing (white, wheat and gray-blue). I start drawing with a normal pencil (2B). I made a sketch from the figure of Homer.

I'm adding the rest of the characters.

I draw with a liner, I remove the pencil with an eraser and I'm ready to start using watercolor markers.

I have a craft paper. When I put a color on the paper - it changes a little, as if a bit of yellow was added to it, so the original colors of the markers are not equal to what we got in the picture. I start with the yellow marker.

Then I take a violet marker in hand, this marker gives me a gray-brown color on the paper. I make them a beard and a shadow.

The classic blue color on paper becomes turquoise. Let it be so (I do not have another suitable color).

Now I add red and dark blue.

I add the dress to Marge (gently blue) and the shadows on Homer's clothes.

I add a hint of a shadow under Homer to ground the characters. I take pencils and start adding details: white pupils and clothing elements, wheat reflexes on the skin and gray-blue reflexes on clothes. Of the three of my pencils, I take exactly one that will be closer in color. I take a white gel pen and make an inscription)) Well, I sign the work!

The most amazing thing is that I liked the process)) And even more surprising is that the colors on the craft should be selected in advance, because it is not always possible to predict what shade will turn out (as with the violet at the beginning of the work). And it's so interesting! =)

Hi there. Amazing work and nice post. I love the colors and the craft!
Thank you for your entry and good luck. :)

Thank you)) I really like you contest!))

No, thank you! I really like your support and being a part of the contest since beginning! Thank you & all the best to you!

So cute, good luck with the contest!
I just started to paint with markers and I wonder what type and brand of markers do you use and if you have any tips for markers newbie like me?

Hi) I have watercolor markers STA aquarelle brush and alcohol markers copic, graphit, sketchmarkers, touch and finecolour. This sketch (with The Simpsons) is painted with STA aquarelle brush. markers ink are similar to watercolors, which are diluted densely.
What markers you use? I can help, but I need to understand what material to pay attention to))

To be honest I usually sketch with graphite pencils, and only recently I started experiencing with colored pencils and markers.
I just got the Ohuhu alcohol markers, and as I'll get better with markers I'll invest in Copic markers.

The most expensive - not the best)) but I have the copiсs, grays.
The main advice is to draw more often. And try to mix the markers. See what colors are obtained by mixing blue and yellow. Pink and blue? And to do gradients from one color to another. As soon as it is clear how the markers work, drawing should no longer be a problem.
I looked at your drawings - you have talent, but you do not have enough basic knowledge. If you want, I can try to help.

Sure, any help and tips is appreciated. I know I should practice especially on shadings

Lovely, @amalinavia :D You captured their characters so nicely ! It reminds me of old time Simpsons, and your colours and step by step are very nice, as usual <3
