Now that we have a better understanding of patriarchy and matriarchy, what is your ideal societal structure? - ecoTrain Question of the Week

in #ecotrain6 years ago (edited)

This three part question on Patriarchy and Matriarchy has been enlightening! I had no problem answering the first question:

What is Patriarchy: a society led by men or a society led by fear and a feeling of scarcity which happens to be an environment in which the masculine takes charge?

We live, and have lived under a patriarchal regime as far our recorded history goes back. The ideas and values of a patriarchal system are SO ingrained in our being, that most people cannot even comprehend anything else! Because of this, I also had it all wrong in my mind when I started to ponder on the second question of the week:

What is matriarchy? What do you think a matriarchal society would look like?

To understand what matriarchy is, you are going to have to rely on the @ecoTrain, because I've done a fair amount of looking on YouTube and Google, and let me tell you that the truth is not out there! Just about every video i have looked at has it all wrong. They are not talking about a real matriarchy, but instead an overlay of women over the current patriarch paradigm. The way to understand what a matriarchy is, is to understand that we are NOT just swapping the men our for the women! Matriarchy does not mean a world ruled by women! What I came to learn from some amazing posts by just about all @ecoTrain passengers, is that we have to understand what Matriarchy actually means before we can understand what a world led by the sacred feminine qualities would look like. In a matriarchal society, things would be the opposite of a patriarchy, but in EVERY sense of the word!

So, to answer this weeks final question of the week I am going to go on a rant! It's not very often I let loose, but this is a hot topic for me, and I have a few things to say!

"What is your ideal societal structure?"

Before we can delve into this question, we MUST know where we are now. We live in a male dominated world, run by very rich and powerful men. These men behold the epitome of the masculine qualities and tendencies. The patriarchy that we live under has permeated every cornerstone, and the very fabric of our society. It has eroded the essence and presence of the feminine qualities in our entire world. We have been very out of balance for many thousands of years, and not long ago things were in fact even more patriarchal than they are today. Today the tide is turning, and step by step we are starting to see that things are on a tipping point for our world, and the people, as well as all life on earth. As a wise man once said, "This shit can't go on!", and its true, one way or another things have to change.. and whether they are through harmonious change, or a catastophy or bloody, revolution, the result will be the same. Our world is re-balancing, and our technology has advanced now to the point where the old systems are totally redundant and repugnant.

We should thank patriarchy for bringing us here so quickly, although im not sure we were really in a rush, but anyways... we are here now and we have just about made it in one piece. And where are we now? We have reached a point that is totally clear, and completely obvious, and will herald a new age. Technology has brought us the ability to have unlimited free power. It is possible today, and could be given to everyone. With free and unlimited power comes free and unlimited water, since power is all that stands in the way of huge desalination plants that could quench the thirst of every country, in a heart beat. Around 70% of jobs will be totally automated using A.I. and robotics within 10-20 years. There will be no need for people to perform most of the jobs they do today. These are simple facts, the obvious truth, when we look around and see what is going on, e.g self driving taxis, drone deliveries, self driving trucks, all service industries automated, all production automated etc. Technology is about to replace humans in just about every area of life. The question is, should we be worried? What is going to happen when there are no jobs left?

Bring On Matriarchy!

There is only one hope for our world and the people in it. If this world were to continue as a Patriarchy, with technology progressing as it is, the results are simply horrifying. You would ultimately be looking at people living in a toxic planet, in sealed domes and paying just to breath air, and utter slaves to a system that they know nothing about. 99.9% of the population would be enslaved, and they wouldn't even know that another world existed or was possible. It would be like 1984, but way worse ...in fact, it already is!

So is there any hope for Matriarchy, and how would it look?

If we look around, and look properly then I believe it is very clear in which direction we are headed! There are SO many signs that the feminine qualities are starting to change us, that its hard to choose examples. Men today are SO different to how they used to be, EVEN though they are still the same 'man like monsters' that men are! Today men are way more in touch with their feminine qualities than even 10 or 20 years ago. When i was in the airport three weeks ago I noticed a baby changing area in the Men's bathroom. The thought crossed my mind, I bet that wouldn't have been there in the 1960s! Can u imagine a man dealing with a baby whilst traveling in the 60's? Let me tell you, that was a rare event! Today men are getting in touch with their emotions, and starting to realise that they need feminine qualities to balance them and allow them to be real men! Men have been having a great shift, and this is especially noticeable in the newer generations. We have basically seen a shift in gender roles, where women can work, men can look after a child, and the distinction between the two in society is starting to blur in many parts of the world. Remember this is just the start, and it is changing rapidly.

A society based on Matriarchy is one that will bring us back to Earth in every sense of the word. Matriarchy can be likened to a Mother. That is what a woman is at her core, that is her greatest gift, the ability to make a child. A woman is grounded in this world in a way that few men can understand. When you create life, you become a part of it, and the ability of women to feel and work with earth energies is very special. Her gift is her ability to feel and respond with empathy and love. That natural quality of a women is what leads a Matriarchy to being compassionate, fair, with enough for everyone's need but not everyones greed.

Greed is something that is an abhorrent symptom of our patriarchal world. Greed is a symptom that manifests when we have a deep hole in ourselves. When we are not nurtured, loved and embraced by the feminine qualities we get 'hungry' People have learned to fill this hole with so many things, and the sad thing is that this deep vacuum has an endless and limitless need and desire to be distracted from its own suffering. Patriarchy is a lonely world, and greed is the result. Personal power is another result of patriarchy, and the desire for ever more power is a form of greed that attempts to satisfy the ego. Once this hole has been filled, greed is something that makes no sense. Greed is in fact, quite illogical!

The world, led by Matriarchy, and ruled none, would be one that I would love to live in. If you are reading this 100 years in the future, consider yourself lucky! People will look back from the future and puzzle at the fact that people worked just to pay their bills, even if they didn't like the work that they were doing! It will seem insane that today we have to take out such a big loan to buy a home that we spend the rest of our lives to pay it off? How can it be possible that the owner of a business who is just one person can earn more than 1,000-10,000 times the salary of one employee? Well in a Matriarchy people won't have to worry about bills, because they wont have any. People wont have to worry about work, because they will only work at what they like to do, for the joy of it. The same things happen that happen today, but in a much more organic and beautiful way. We all have varied interests, and there will always be someone who just likes to fix things, and someone who likes to perform, and another who can cook all day, just for the love of it! You see, we don't need money at all, and once we remove it from the equation we start to change the whole game!

Imagine a world where we all have everything that we need. Our family love each other because there is no competition going on. The whole concept of competitiveness is alien to Matriarchy, it does not even compute. The feminine traits do not understand competitiveness. Who cares who came first? Instead she will ask, did we enjoy the race? Did we have time to pause and connect with each other? Once we are relieved from the burden and stress of surviving, being first, needing to look good to be accepted, and the whole long list of burdens that we live under, we can finally be allowed to just be. In a Matriarchy we will live in communities, and we live together in families and with friends. Our priorities will be about each other, and our loved ones. We will live in abundance, and great creativity. Things will not not be perfect of course, and we will still argue and have good days and bad days, but we will be able to communicate and find resolution. Life will be un-recognisable to what it is today.

My answer to that last part of this question, "What is The structure of a Matriarchal Society" is that the question is wrong! (@likedeeler will like this bit!). It is wrong because there is no structure. That is such a masculine thing, to need a definite form and shape for things. A matriarchal society would be organic, and you never know who is going to be who in such a society. People rise and shine through their own character, and gifts. People become famous because they do good for the world, and for the people. People succeed for all the right reasons in a matriarchy. Today in our patriarchy it is the sociopaths, narcissists, and mad-men who succeed. If you look at the head of any big business, bank, or government, you will likely find the most disturbing characters you are ever likely to meet. That is because a competition of survival of the fittest encourages the very worst traits in mankind. A matriarchy is true anarchy and if i had to give it a shape, it would look like a complex network, rather than a triangle. It would be dynamic and change shape and form, and adapt to the needs of the whole.

One of my favorite movies is called Trading Places. It is a classic, with Eddie Murphy playing the part of a scamming beggar who's life is transformed due to the devious plan of a few rich guys.. At the same time they made a very rich man poor overnight, and placed a bet. Would the rich man become a criminal when put in difficult circumstances, and would the poor man become honest when given great riches? Have a watch and see what you think? I'd love to hear in the comments what you think about this!

Watch The Movie Here! I've skipped to where it gets relevant to this post

It would be a real Alex world! It sounds like a lot of fun. But I do think each part of life needs it's own structure to serve that life and make it possible, like our physical heart has different chambers as a structure. Structure isn't bad but it has to SERVE life and not the other way around. If you are interested to read more about it in my post about my ideal society structure: Balance between feminine and masculine qualities, check out: https://steemit.com/ecotrain/@clara-andriessen/now-that-we-have-a-better-understanding-of-patriarchy-and-matriarchy-what-is-your-ideal-societal-structure

Valuable content sir.
I completely agree with you.
The EcoTrain project aims at developing a hybrid railcar for the Erzgebirgsbahn: A standard class 642 rail vehicle is going to be converted to a cutting-edge and innovative hybrid railcar. Later on, this prototype will serve as basis for converting the entire Erzgebirgsbahn railcar fleet. This paper deals with the development of a drive train concept for the EcoTrain. Three different approaches to hybridization are explained in conjunction with their respective advantages and disadvantages.

Equally important I am witnessing is the internal balance of energies. I feel for many have been mislead that to be a "real" man or woman is to behave in imbalanced ways. Yet the middle path of wholeness will help resolve many sufferings. Thank you for this beautiful and inspiring post @eco-alex. I will share and resteem.

I like this vision of having love and not having bills. Where can I sign up?

really respect and love that you stated we must start of where we are now... i think that's such an important aspect of moving forward: knowing where we're coming from and how we're out of balance.

also loved how you brought this up:

When you create life, you become a part of it, and the ability of women to feel and work with earth energies is very special.

this made me think in a new way. as in, these patriarchal leaders if they created life would think/behave/orient toward life in a different way. really interesting thought-stream... it points to the different "natural" or core experiences we have. that men don't create life like women. it's interesting to think how the patriarchs may behave differently if they did!!

Love how you then switched it up and talked about the organic unfolding nature of living in a matriarchal society and then that the question itself is wrong. i tend to agree... forcing and assuming structure is a very conditioned response... great ideas about the abundant, unfolding society. i would love to see such abundance you mentioned with water and energy. we can go there as humans!! thanks for the fresh thoughts @eco-alex!!

Going through a writer's block, I knew I needed to read up on the qotw before I posted mine and what's better than to read a post by you on the topic because yours are always extremely comprehensive and detailed. I love the concept of not having a structure because I too think that the need to have a structure and a form to define and describe everything is precisely what forces us to conform to certain things and behave a certain way Fluidity is what is lacking a lot.
