Lady Lotus Drops Her Final Gifts

in #ecotrain6 years ago (edited)

If Lady Lotus was a person, she would no doubt be labeled as a pathological over-giver and in need of therapy.

This morning, as I spent time wandering in the garden, I saw she had dropped yet more gifts, literally right at my feet. Lotus seeds.

And today, her final gift, the natural medicine of her seeds.

What are lotus seeds primarily used for?

In my Thai world, "malet dok bua" ( เมล็ดบัว ) are commonly known to:

  • gift deeper, better sleep & help treat insomnia
  • prevent inflammation & promote longevity
  • increase sexual drive and potency, particularly in men
  • reduce blood pressure and induce calm
  • support healthy weight loss
  • encourage beautiful skin, reduce the appearance of lines & wrinkles

Thai people always prefer their medicine to be a yummy part of food, so generally the seed head and immature seeds are used as a healing ingredient in sweets and deserts. Soooo many wonderful medicinal cooking ideas for lotus fruit-seeds here: https://en.mthai.com/food/33360.html Or we simply snack on them, as is.

In Chinese medicine, they are called Lian Zi and have been used for millennia. If you'd like to read more about their use in Chinese medicine, I found this article succinct and informative: http://www.chineseherbshealing.com/lotus-seed/

What am I personally doing with my HUGE seed harvest? :) I feel a bit like Jack in the Beanstalk. :)

Tomorrow I will start a "Sleep Well" tincture. I will pound the lotus seeds, together with some other herbs, and steep them in alcohol for a friend. As I get more seeds, I will simply pound them and add them to my brew, and let it sit for a few weeks, directing love and intention to it. And moon light. And the deep restful dark stillness of this coming dark moon.

And so the "over-giver" keeps giving. Requires little. Radiates beauty & healing &love. Replenishes herself. Rises and flowers extravagantly again.

Profoundly grateful for the beauty, gifts, medicine and teachings of Lady Lotus.

Love the way you personify the lotus! I'd like to think that our lotus symbolises such giving in the Steem community!

That sleep well tincture sounds divine.

We've already upvoted you as NM follows the TSU trail, but we'll keep you in mind for curation too. So proud that you are using the #naturalmedicine tag - we appreciate someone as quality as yourself encouraging natural medicines on the blockchain xx

Here's a lotus just for you:

thank you. haha.... I tend to only see myself as a personification of the lotus in the amount of murk I swim in sometimes!! :) I'm coming to the conclusion that "over-giver" is a western construct created by people who live in lack mentality. My lotus plants already have new buds while they are still giving seeds.

much gratitude for the @naturalmedicine forum. And the lotus. :)

Thank you, Peter. I never cease to be enthralled by them! Even after 16 years here and seeing them daily, it never gets old. blissednblessed. :)

Thank-you for showing me all the gifts of the beautiful lotus. I only knew it as a beautiful flower and neat seed head.

My pleasure! Such an incredible healing plant - truly blessed to be surrounded by them here in Thailand.
