EasyDex Photography Challenge Post #27
The challenge this week is going to be Significant Building. I want to see photos that show a significant building in your community.
When I was a child, I was always fascinated by the architecture of this building, which resembles a castle! For several decades after its construction, it served as the county jail. Later, when a larger facility was necessary, another building was constructed and this building sat idle for a time. Its current use is serving as the county museum!
The structure of the building is red brick, but I wanted to desaturate the colors for artistic effect. The sign that is in front of the building, with a "selective color" quilt square, marks the building as part of the "Historic Trail" of the town, which can lead visitors from place-to-place past interesting spots of historical significance.

what a neat signpost to places of interest in an area .. a quilt square... handmade quilts often reflect a piece of history of an area or a family

That's a really interesting building! With the desaturation of the bricks, it looks like the setting of a really creepy, abandoned-building-esk horror story. With that in mind, the quilt looks almost comically out of place! =)
Going to check it out too.
That's a gorgeous building, and I love how you framed and desaturated the shot! It works really, really well - excellent challenge result, @thekittygirl!
