The Seagate Barracuda "Click of Doom" a.k.a. broken hard disk. 🖥
Hardware Woes oh Noes.
The Noise you don't want to hear. Likely cause is a faulty "head" from old age on this five year old seagate hard drive.
Fortunately this is a couple year back already and with some luck decentralization, blockchain, distribution of files/disk space via IPFS these kind of issues will be a thing of the past soon!

At times it sounds like a bomb planning to explode. Last year I dealt with a broken external hard disc, luckily there was no extremely important data uploaded to it. Don't remember how it sounded like though :) It's possible to hear your voice while you're streaming on your Discord Channel, right?
Yes it is!
I do almost daily evening streams on my twitch channel at www.twitch.tv/zeroooc!
There we (yours truly and the brave boys and girls of the Order of Chaos) often get to play games together that are still in a developmental, testing or preview phase! In over two years of streaming we've explored titles like Terraria, Warcraft 3, Rainbow Six: Siege, Total War: Arena, Starcraft 2, Rust, H1Z1, DayZ, Starbound, Stardew Valley, Star Citizen and PUBG to name just a couple! Sometimes you'll catch me playing some classics and favorite titles of mine out of pure enjoyment as well! I occasionally also stream creative activities like drawing, digital art, photoshop work, video editing and animating. Plans are in the works to expand the streaming operation to #dLive in the near future.
We are a Happy Bunch of International Gamers and Scholars based in Vienna. The OoC has its roots as far back as 1999 when Nikki wanted to make his own Starcraft clan. We have since held competitive positions in Warcraft 3, WoW and Starcraft II among others. Some of the Publishers we've been testing games for include THQNordic, Blizzard, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Creative Assembly and more. We try to practice the manner game.
So if you are looking for team matches and checking out games before they come out this is the right place! We're a friendly bunch so don't be shy to ask Zero or an OoC mod if there's a spot open or just jump into chat, see what's up and have fun!
Ouff that went on a bit longer than expected!
Lok tar Ogar mighty orcs.
Cool! I must say I really like German/Austrian accent in English speakers. I talked to several people during summer and noticed how nice it sounds. I'm sure I'll listen to your stream again!
Uii Thanks! I'll try to say "useful" things then :P
My accent has had a wide range of influences methinks, but being surrounded by the Austrian "Klangfarbe" has certainly left its mark. ^^
I just experienced a broken hard disk 2 weeks ago and it was my worst nightmare ! First it started with strange sounds and soon it just broke( lost all my information :( ) Anyway now i have always a backup hard disk so if something like this happen to be ready !
That's terrible! The good news is that even at this stage the actual data from the hard disk can still be salvaged most of the time. The bad news is that it's quite hard/expensive to repair them then because you'll need to do fairly delicate hardware surgery with somewhat rare parts. It's doable, but I hope it's something that will be cheaper in the future. I still have several "broken" hard disk knocking about with lots of art from when I was younger. Eventually I hope to restore them and then add that here as well.
Backups and Mirrors/Raid are usually a good idea. Don't throw them away!
Thats right ! Here where i live its very expensive to be repaired and also the chance to be successful its not big. As you said hopefully in the future thats something that could be easy fixed !
Hopefully you'll be able to do away with the word "fixing" completely! With enough processing power there should also be enough (unlimited?) available disk space in the cloud and on powerful hard disks around the world. Perhaps we'll figure out a way to compress and distribute our data even more efficiently too. IPFS could be one of the stepping stones :)
