The Seven Day B&W 📷 Challenge - Day #7 - Splitting the Atom

The words breakneck and irresponsible come to mind.

A scene of contrasts. The jagged, mechanical shapes of a bonafide racecar with metal and carbon twisting and turning into an aerodynamic shape. Jet black beams of curved metal and panels hold together a bright yellow frame powered by an engine ready to scream expelling bursts of flame from the exhaust as it accelerates. A shape like a Formula 1 car for box racers. It sits neatly in front of the weaving and waving Perthshire countryside in Scotland. All the greens and all the browns of the earth only serve as a canvas for shimmering grey asphalt and burning rubber. All in all, a really beautiful friggin' car.

Of course you can see none of this because it's all in black and white.

Another project that was rather ill-fated at the time in some ways but it also yielded other unexpected results. For one this job afforded me my own DSLR camera (600D) and I really got to explore the area around Loch Earnhead with good Thomas in a way few people will have the chance to. Basically we got called up to make a promo video for a company called "Exhilarate Scotland" which rented out super cars for a day so you could cruise around the scottish countryside with them. Unfortunately in our juvenile naivety we gave the guy a lot more benefit of the doubt than we should have. Basically we got burned. Our loss wasn't even very great compared to some of the other people that were involved with this, a learning experience not to trust people so quickly when doing business. Either way, it was a terrific adventure driving around Scotland in these awesome cars and getting to hone our craft during the early days of our video production ventures, I think this story will deserve it's own post soon.

This is my seventh and thus final entrance into the #sevendaybnwchallenge. I'm stoked I made it even though it took me much longer than seven days!

Today's nominee is @raymondspeaks ! Let's see what you can come up with.

Here's what I used to make the photo:

The Challenge

Here are the rules, if you would like to take part in this challenge:

  1. 7 black & white images that represent an aspect of your life
  2. Present one image every day for seven days
  3. No people
  4. No explanation needed
  5. Nominate someone every day. Although anyone can join in.
  6. Use the tag: #sevendaybnwchallenge as one of your five tags

Hint of the Day:

One of the greatest boons of DSLR photography is the .RAW format that preserves an amazing amount of information in the image (Did you know that CMOS technology comes from space?). The Adobe RAW editor is one of the most powerful photo editing tools in my mind. Exposure/Levels/Blacks/Whites/Contrast, you'd be amazed how much more you can get out of a RAW than say a JPEG.

Feels good to complete this!

Good job! I really like it & your accompanying writeup

Cheers! The writing part is slowly becoming more fun again. Dusting off the rust.
Which other #photography challenges do you recommend @chelsea88?

When I was a kid, I always wanted to drive this. Then life happened, I didn't even get a chance to see such car closely. Haha. Nicely captured by the way. :)

Perhaps you still will! You're still young, lots is possible ^^
