Watch Steemit Open Mic Week 47 "Honeyman" (Original Song) video on DTube

A song about our best friend Derek Honeyman who left this Earth way too young. He passed when he was only 35 years old, in 2013, and it's taken a while for me to put this song together, I was in shock and denial until only recently.

~Lyrics~

Dimes were falling on the ground, two by two
And every time we turned around it was 333

How could we forget the best friend that we ever had?
The coolest person that we ever met
The kindest man that we've ever known
The best friend that we ever had
The coolest person that we ever met

Edmonton, Calgary, those times in Van City
We grew up in P.G. driving around, listening to Tool, smoking.
How could we forget the best friend that we ever had?

chorus

Dimes are falling on the ground, one by one
And I know if we were on better terms, you'd already been to see me, I'm living on the 333
How could we forget the best friend that we ever had?

chorus

The only Son they would ever have
The only Brother she would ever get
The coolest Uncle they would ever know
The most generous person that we've ever met.

Honeyman.

How could life be so cruel Honeyman?

This is such a beautiful tribute to your friend. I enjoyed it a lot once D-Tube got loaded up fully. The dead are not gone to the living, just carry on in the truest existence there is devoid of all the bullshit that comes with life. They still are there in our memories and this song proves that fact. <3

You are such a deep, empathetic and wise man @lk666, you always know just what to say...your children are truly blessed to have a Father like you! :') :') Tears, and smiles....thank you so much for listening...

Thank you @lyndsaybowes for being someone to bring Steemians truly emotional music every week.

You're so sweet. Truly, I have writer's block when I'm happy and the only time music comes out of me is when I'm in pain...it's how I deal with sadness...I write. Big Love and Respect for you.

I'm the same way, I'd love to write something happy and carefree but it always turns out the way it does.

Thank you so much for sharing this song. It was beautiful and heart-felt. It reminded me a lot about my best friend throughout most of high school. He passed away about a week after his 22nd birthday. Wonderful words and your vocals are soft and soothing. Love it. Upvoted and resteemed.

Thank you so much for listening, and for understanding so completely. I'm so sorry about your loss too... :'( :'( Hugs Sally <3 xOxOxO

Lindsay this brought tears to my eyes! Thank you for sharing this song about your friend. Like anyone we have lost, they are always with us in spirit and our hearts.
BTW, I'm sure it was no accident this video was ended at 420!

I know, I couldn't believe that it was 4:20 AHHAA!! Another thing Honeyman and I had in common and celebrated all of the time, and I'm glad to hear you do too. <3 <3 <3 <3 Thank you so much for listening, and for feeling Michael. I'm really happy to know that this video worked for you. Did it play on your phone then?

Yeah i figured it out finally. I was using Int Explorer, switched to Chrome and thats all it took.

Oooh my goodness that's amazing!!

great song , sorry for your friend , but If you ask me , I myself believe that we are living in a dream land and this dream must end , then we can release ...
he's in a better place , nowhere or heaven as stories said ... but better than here.

Lovely song lindsay, driving around smoking listening to tool, this describes my adolescence! I'm so sorry about your friend but this is a wonderful tribute :)

Thanks very much for the Empathy :') And it's great to meet another mind moulded by TOOL!!!! xoxoxoo I always knew you were kick ass!!!

Tool on loop nonstop was a good chunk of my teenage years, that and NIN, lol :)

Awesome!! Yeah, can't leave out NIN...

I have thoroughly enjoyed A Perfect Circle and Puscifer too, basically anything Maynard does is Gold. He's got the Midas touch...

Wow. Impressive. It's so hard when we lose someone we love. I watched the video, but had a hard time hearing it over the Thia music playing in the background of the restaurant I'm in, what a touching song (after reading the lyrics). It's obvious you're talented, and know what you're doing.

Funny as I know @luczypher. Had a steemit meet up with him in Playa del Carmen Mexico. Great guy. Happy to stop by your blog and see what you've been up to! How did the filming of your garden go? I'm sure you'll be posting something about that. Hope you are well and in good spirits!
