RE: D.Tube 0.7: Welcome to the HD

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

In the U.S.A., they have a saying: "If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT."

I had just come around to migrate my content to DTube and was reasonably happy with the platform, until you guys made so-called improvements. Unfortunately, your new encoding is simply atrocious. It turned today's upload into a disgusting, blocky, blurry mess. So much so, I had to delete your versions and restrict the player to SOURCE quality only.

This kind of thing makes content creators look bad and they will shy away from this wonderful platform. You really need to change it back to the way it was. Your 720p looks worse than the 480p did before. And really, nobody needs 240p. It just clutters the menu.

All that said, THANK YOU for working so hard on a censorship-free alternative to YouTube. You deserve a goshdarn MEDAL for that.

P.S.: I've been seeing this problem in new videos all over DTube; it's BAD. You really need to address this A.S.A.P.. Here is an example what the slightest motion looks like with the new encoding:

P.P.S: I published instructions for a workaround on my blog. (English and German)
