Hello Fam,
During the holiday season one begins to hopefully think of ways in which we can give instead of only receive. As most of you know I love sharing my culture, blessings, and hopes with my Steemit/Dtube friends and family.
On a special totem pole celebration in the four corners of the United States a master carver was present and explained ancestral oral history, song, prayer, and blessings. He even brought gifts of fresh cedar to share with us. Brother JEWELL is an activist and defender of natural lands as well as a teacher.
What I want to share with you is a few minutes of what I was able to experience as a way of giving to others who may never have had this very beautiful experience of sharing a way of understanding a different culture, perpective, and giving. May you have a lovely holiday season.

I love this culture ... passed down through so many generations and most cultures text on iPhones during thanksgiving dinner ... have a lot to learn from this culture and not just drumming ... love the lower thirds too.... nice work :)
I think smartphones should be forbidden during any kind of ancient ritual... But then again it is really cool to be able to watch this, and it was most probably filmed with a smartphone... Dilemmas of the modern world I guess...

This was not an ancient ritual. This was a wAy of keeping tradition and sharing a song. Passing down history for my people. Filming during ancient ceremony is not allowed. For many of us sharing this is important especially amongst our own. I felt like sharing something this special because that is me. Not all of us are as paranoid about smartphones and realize we are being watched regardless 🤷🏽♀️

Hehe ya no worries, also making sure the proper info was out there. Many people might think this is an ancient sacred ceremony. Clue is this is a public place and the clothing. Most native Americans in sacred ceremony are in nature and half dressed or wearing traditional clothing. Some info is shared for public knowledge. Anything I share is what I can share. I’ve stated that in many of my posts.

That was so wonderful. Thank you for that. I'm heading into a ceremony here in Taos at the Pueblo later today. They don't allow any photos/videos though, so won't be able to bring anything back other than maybe a shot of all the parked cars before I get inside.
Interesting. I was allowed! Have a great time. Also there is an area only open to public and another area for sacred ceremony only for native Americans. Now that part of the Rez is simply amazing. I found the place lovely and as long as one had friends and cred the vibe becomes magical. Taos overall is depressed which I found to be very sad for my soul.
