Realizing you're wasting your time
Arguing for the "legitimacy" of the State (or government) with an anarchist-- using legal definitions and statist concepts-- is as pointless as threatening atheists with Hell for not believing.
It's just not going to work.

Man oh man, it's frustrating I know.
The only reason you might want to continue such a "conversation" for, is for people who are onlookers.
But there is a time when enough is enough I agree.

At some point you just have to realize there's no communication happening and give up.
I was ready to just keep going as long as it took, but there was that sudden realization, when the same objections kept being expressed, that this wasn't going anywhere. Everything had been adequately addressed... and dismissed. It was time to go do something else.
