I'm following an Environment Design Class at Schoolism by the great Nathan Fowkes, as you mights have read in a previous post. Today I made some more homework!
The homework assignment is copying an environment (either a painting, photo or screencapture) in about an hour, trying to capture the essence of the painting or photo. I used a concept art piece by James Finch, he made it for the movie Frozen.
I found it really hard to get the colors right. It's not only blues in the painting, but you can also see greens, purples, yellows. I painted this in Procreate on my iPad Pro using an Apple Pencil. I did it in 3 x 20 minutes during my train rides. I mostly used the charcoal brushes and also the airbrush every once in a while to add global light or shadow.
