The Five Senses - documentary

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

A documentary I made of the 2006 Dublin Castle sand sculpture exhibition. Grad a cup of tea or a glass of wine and sit back while I take you through the process of how sand sculptures are made.
Sorry for the quality as it was all shot in SD.

thank you for sharing how much work goes into creating your sand sculptures, I had no idea really, your work is always so impressive this just adds to it.

Thank you very much. Very true, there is a lot of physical labor that goes into creating a piece but I also really enjoy that side as it keeps the body health. The art takes care of the mind and the soul.

Thank you so much Lizelle. I have a few other videos to share about my work when the time is right.

Watched this with eldest as I've been showing him your sand sculptures and he keeps asking how you do certain things (I've passed on a few of those before as you probably recall XD). I think you would have appreciated the amount of times he went bug-eyed and exclaimed variations of "oh god!" and commented about how he'd be too scared to squeeze through the tiny opening in the tooth sculpture or be working in a cavity as he's sure he would accidentally knock something wrong and cause the whole thing to collapse or otherwise do something wrong and need to carve it down til the gigantic sculpture ends up the size of a pencil XD

We were both thoroughly impressed anyway, though something about the broken face at the end creeped him out and he fled. Perhaps I will have to remember that next time I take him to a museum XD

We were a little bit sad at the end when they had to be hauled away but were quite impressed that the sandvil seemed to stop the bulldozer for a second!

Thank you so much for showing him. I love the reaction of children to sand sculpture and enjoy trying to teach them the techniques. I have to say that I am very lucky doing what I do as it really keeps that child like play side of me alive.
Yes the face at the end is a bit scary. I just loved the image when I saw it laying there on the sand.
