There was this beautiful live acappella song by Eivør, called Trøllabundin. I think they are both quite famous but I didn't know neither her or the song. Anyway, when something strikes me musically I always feel the urge to do some work with that sound, means that I try to do a remix, adding rhythm and arrangements. I guess it is probably some compulsory addiction: everything has to be remixed. But, as every addiction, it is fun and I love to spend hours creating and adjusting something created by others.
When I do a remix, I think I am trying to expand the many possibilities that potentially are in a song. It is like open new windows in a house or use different colors for a painting. It is a make over, a remake, or better a rebuild of something and changing the original mood and atmosphere.
I don't know why but I find it more creative than doing an original piece. Maybe because producing electronic music at home is a very lonely job and in this way I feel like working with someone else.
As I said it is an addiction.
