Thought You Were Real - Nathan Kaye (Original)

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

This is a haunting Celtic influenced song in the tradition of the great, old Celtic airs about lost love, with a modern soundscape production. Put on some good quality headphones and get lost in the atmosphere of this soundscape, like you're walking the Scottish Highlands.... ___________________________________________-

LYRICS

I Have walked a thousand miles and seen as many lands,
I have sailed cold oceans of love just to hold your hand,
I have seen a thousand stars in moonless skies,
You don't seem just who you are as you say goodbye,

As your thoughtless words pierce my heart,
You don't know how I feel,
You said we'd never part,
I thought you were real.

I have sung a thousand songs and cried as many tears,
I have climbed sheer cliffs of pain and searched my soul for years,

As your thoughtless words pierce my heart,
You don't know how I feel,
You said we'd never part,
I thought you were real.

I thought you were real
I thought you were real
I thought you were real

Pure magic man. I never heard such a passive supporting mouth harp. Or is it a didge with less body? Beauty has taken a backseat in art and music in the last decades and I love that humans dare to go for it so mightily like you have here. Especially with your high octave. Once again man, mad respects for your skills and really happy to have you in my tribe. I think it's a winner ;)

Thanks so much bruthaman @paradigmprospect!
That sound that is akin to a didge or mouth harp, is just my voice. I'm a beatboxer and do all sorts of quirky sound fx. But I am also a didge player and Dan Moi (Vietnamese mouth harp) player too...
Thanks for really listening in to the individual elements that make up the track. I love it when other musicians do that and appreciate the work that's gone into it... Cheers buds!
Great we've connected!

Stunning work my friend! Those dynamics and nuances that you create, gently stroke my eardrums and absorb my musical mind!
Cheers mate
Darren

Cheers bro! I’m stoked you got swept away in the emotional, sonic landscape.
Thanks so much!

That was a feast of sound all in a great setting. That falsetto was astounding, too. I felt the lyrics heavily!

Thanks so much, bro @onemedia!
I'm honoured that you connected with it, mate..

Love lost affects so many and you put it in a way that I imagine most can connect with, not just us artistic types ;-) Cheers!

wow good post

thank you dear

This was excellent. I love the whole mix. It's a truly enjoyable eargasm. I love the lyrics and the Celtic vibe is well executed!

Thanks so much @wandrnrose7!
I love it when intelligent people really take the time to listen in deep to a creative work and then comment. You're awesome!
Thanks heaps!

Ah... dude... yet another beautiful song! I love the Celtic vibe and the vocal accents as well! So cool! You just really know what a song should be and it shows in your music! How are you not famous yet?!?! ;)

Wow! @rockchickjen! Thank you so so so much!
What a wonderful comment to wake up to today!
Bless ya!
💚

I'm a fan, so I'm also re-steeming and because the music you made here was beautiful.
Awesome work you and your producer.
The lyrics sung especially at the end made me feel like I was in a movie scene, me riding a white horse, dressed in white celtic gown, running away in tears, from all the pain...
"Your thoughtless words pierce my heart..."

Hiya @erelasblog!
Thank you so so much for such a beautiful compliment!
You're a poet! "The lyrics sung especially at the end made me feel like I was in a movie scene, me riding a white horse, dressed in white celtic gown, running away in tears, from all the pain..."
Just gorgeous words to read!
Thank you and also thank you for resteeming! I deeply appreciate that...
xx

Wowzers what a pure and uplifting song. Got some serious goosebumps.

Love the message behind the lyrics and the passion (around 3:17-3:41 holy smokessssss) you deliver them with. So soothing and soul-resonating.

And that beautiful guitar and your beatbox that simulates the didge wow what an array of talent and skill.

You most defintely create that Scottish Highlands feel to this.

Thank you for sharing this. It affected me greatly I can't thank you enough for that.

Much love and respect

Great sound with the Celtic vibe. And lovely lyrics.

I lived in South Melbourne for a few months, and went to the Australasian World Music Expo in 2010. Were you participating that year, by chance?

Thanks so much @bananamemos!

In 2010 I was living between LA, Sydney and Byron Bay... So no I wasn't around Melbs at that time, except to do some solo shows...

I always find it interesting to see how people might have crossed paths unknowingly. Between October and December 2010, I was in Santa Barbara, Noosa, Byron Bay, Sydney (French's Forest and near downtown) and then Melbourne.

Australia is a beautiful, friendly country. With the best baklava I've ever had.
