KOGAS employee was caught while attempting to smuggle drugs

in #drug6 months ago

A Korea Gas Corporation employee in his 20s was caught by customs and police while attempting to smuggle drugs into the country via a parcel. He was apprehended by the police with a large quantity of drugs in his office and is suspected of importing and storing drugs for an extended period.

The police, after arresting him on charges of violating the Narcotic Drugs Control Act, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the smuggling operation and the potential involvement in drug use and distribution.

If he is indicted, Korea Gas Corporation plans to initiate disciplinary proceedings. It is highly unusual for a construction employee to smuggle drugs from overseas and store them in the office, raising concerns about the adequacy of employee management beyond individual misconduct.

A KOGAS official stated, "The employee in question has been placed on non-duty status, and we plan to convene a personnel committee meeting in accordance with internal procedures to take appropriate action. We will enhance employee training and make efforts to prevent a recurrence."
