Drone view of Castlewood Canyon Park in Colorado
Hello folks, See my first attempt at video and pics of Castlewood Canyon Park in Colorado using DJI Mavic Pro drone.
This was also my first attempt at FPV flight using the DJI goggles.
The FPV flight was really immersive and a load of fun, it was like sitting in the cockpit of the drone.
I'm still learning the proper exposure controls and such, and it's still dry and brown up here. Follow to see better pics in the next month as things green up and I get better at it!
This pic below shows some of the paved walking trails, there are also many "wild" trails and rock climbing allowed with proper equipment.
This one below you can barely make out Pike's Peak way out in the distance.
And finally, below is the video flyover clip. If you notice the pause after going under the bridge, I guess the rock walls and bridge blocked the signal. I lost remote control signal to the drone, but the Mavic Pro automatic "return home" function kicked in, and it automatically went up to specified height, flew over the bridge, and returned back to starting point. Whew!

Hey @ksteem nice photos mate! Using the Goggles to me is like another level up there. I just got myself a Mavic Air and I’m loving it soooooo much. I even wrote a post about how it changed my life (do check it out if you have time). The drone community here at steemit seems pretty small so I’m happy to find more pilots like yourself. Hello @joshuakhoo Thanks for the upvote! Loved your post as well. I totally agree that viewing our world from above adds an entirely new perspective that makes it more interesting. Wait until you try the goggles, it is even more immersive, and so much better for aligning shots over just the phone view. I can't wait to get out again, but raining here the next few days. Thanks! @becky12h Definitely more of a learning curve than I originally thought. I'm amazed at the practice folks must've put in for some of the professional shots I've seen.
It is unique because aerial photographies show you almost all angles, you can't miss a single beautiful spot.
Thats pretty cool!!!! I want a drone with a camera.. sadly the last drone we had bought ended up tangled and broken in a tree!
