Tips for new Steemians and my Friday drawing "Eva"

in #drawing7 years ago (edited)

Hello dear Steemians,

As you may be noticed in my last couple of email I am doing a little promotion for new Steemians who a little bit struggling to start up. Because of such problems many just leaving as they feel like no matter what they do and how good or original content they post, they are invisible. Therefore, in this post I would like to combine some tips for new comers that were helpful for me and of course, as a second half of my post my new drawing.

First of all, let‘s look at this question: Why I am invisible?

  1. Steemit is growing everyday, there are many new people joining the platform, that means there are many new talented, hard working and ambitious people, therefore, there is a competition and only the one who do not like to give up will succeed.

  2. Nowadays the easiest thing to do is a photograph, when in the past you needed to have a camera, films and they to go developing the pictures and find at the end that from 36 shots only 10 successful:(

Now you have the camera everywhere you phone, tablets, camera and the quality of pictures are very good, so you do not need to be a professional photographer to be able to make nice shots for Steemit. I would say, there are many photographs, therefore, one must be extraordinary. Exclusion criteria, you are a whale, then no matter what you post, it will be a trending post. But believe it takes a lot of time and efforts until then, I probably retire and it will be posting my memoirs in Steemit (that is also not bad idea :)

  1. Use a little help available on Steemit, for example post via #busy.org, that will give you an upvote from busy, also @qurator is wise to check, there is a lot of information how to register and different levels, they may not take everyone but if yes, you will get quration from them. So even without anyone else's upvote you will have from those two and they are definitely not ZERO.

  2. Another thing I would like to recommend there are different contest, one of my favorite is @julian photo contest.
    https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@photocontests/readme

It is again very good for beginners as you will get upvote from photo contest and, with every post you will get points and different levels, depending where you are you will get different strength of upvotes.

  1. For those who like ART contests I would recommend to look into @becometheartist blogs, he usually summaries and posts different art contests, I started myself taking part in such.

https://steemit.com/art/@becometheartist/unleash-your-creativity-05-02-12-02-list-of-ongoing-drawing-painting-and-crafts-contests

  1. If you want to be seen then you have to visit other people‘s posts and leave a comment, but I would recommend not only to look for whales posts, many of them will not pay attention to newbies, because if you have no SP your upvote is ZERO, so just do not lose your time and Upvote power for that. But just look there where you interests match, think what you would like to write, just imagine the person in front of you. If someone likes your comment he may give you upvote of your comment or if you are lucky he may visit your last post and leave upvote there.

I hope this was helpful for you, my friends.

If you almost ready to give up then, just make a deep breath in, have a good cup of coffee and give yourself another chance.

My drawing „Eva“

But now back to my drawing, as you remember I love beauty in general and beauty of women in particular. Therefore, I spend my last couple of days to do the portrait of one of the beautiful women of our time Eva Mendes.

I hope many of you know her, he herself from Miami, Florida and her parents are cuban, she is model, actress and businesswoman. Here is my drawing done with graphite pencils and drawing paper. Some times before Christmas I already tried one this drawing but it was not successful, after couple of months this is my second attempt. I just could not not to draw her.

Here are my few steps, at this stage I thought it will never work, it does not look like I want, but I remember from my previous lessons you need to bring it to end, at least start to put shadows and highlights, and if then it does not work then C'est la vie

Already looks better but still a long time to finish:

Almost ready and I would say for me I can recognize Eva, just a bit of shadows and signature

And here they are my main tools: graphite pencils and drawing sketchblock with the result of my drawing:

You have very good posts for new members, it's good that you think of them.

Woow, you're amazing artist, re-steemed

Thank you that you visited my blog and I am grateful you have chosen my post to re-steem. It is a nice thing to share the experience, especially as a new anywhere it is good to get an advice how to navigate in a new community and to bring your input in the successful growth of that community. I would be happy if people find the information useful and at least feel that the initial difficult time is always at the begining of any journey, important if one would like to reach his aim, should be ready for hard competition.
Thank you for your compliment regarding my art works, actually this is just my hobby, my main job has nothing to do with art but I enjoy both of them, I love my job and my hobby :)

Thanksies for the mention @stef1!

Happy you find it useful and good luck to all for the contests!

You are welcome, I always find your idea great and helpful and it was my pleasure to mention you in my post

I must be too positive because I think I've upvoted too many things!

Thanks Nick for viewing my post, think about your voting power, try to keep it above 40 if possible, I am myself trying but it is difficult there are many good stuff around. On weekend normally not much happen that is a good time to save a power. By the way Nick, I saw you are doing a lot with 3d and 2d models, there is a community called @utopian.io they have some contest when they ask to draw some models using computer programs, they usually voting those who submit their ideas. Just worth to visit and read what they have:

Aye, I think I've realised I need to stop throwing my upvotes around like this is Facebook! Although I owe you more upvotes for the advice you've given me! :-)
