Illustration to the Bible - Books Genesis chapter four - #CCC

in #drawing6 years ago

Greetings, my friends!
Today is a great day! This day the Lord God created, and He gave us His Word. I wanted to get deeper into this Word. I began to draw it. Drawings in the form of miniatures, they are drawn with a usual ballpoint pen with blue paste. What could be easier? Our God, he does not look for difficult paths for us, we ourselves complicate our lives when we do not hear His Word.

When you read the bible and imagine the events, this is wonderful, but when you draw them, you are given the opportunity not only to imagine the plot, but to live it alone with God. The time I spent on this miniature completely belonged to God.

I am happy to present you a miniature that is drawn from the plot of the fourth chapter of Genesis. I see her like this, it’s possible that you see her differently, I don’t pretend that my vision is the only true one. I share my impression, this impression is unique for each person.

My joy is also in the fact that this is the fourth miniature to the Book of Genesis, which I drew. The previous three miniatures for the first, second and third chapters, you can see, on these links.

It will be great to look at the thumbnail and read the fourth chapter of Genesis. If you do not have a Bible at hand, I will quote this chapter, which can be easily found on the Internet.

For Example -

source - The Holy Bible - Genesis Chpt. 4

1 And the man had connection with Eve his wife, and she became with child and gave birth to Cain, and said, I have got a man from the Lord.

2 Then again she became with child and gave birth to Abel, his brother. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a farmer.

3 And after a time, Cain gave to the Lord an offering of the fruits of the earth.

4 And Abel gave an offering of the young lambs of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord was pleased with Abel's offering;

5 But in Cain and his offering he had no pleasure. And Cain was angry and his face became sad.

6 And the Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry? and why is your face sad?

7 If you do well, will you not have honour? and if you do wrong, sin is waiting at the door, desiring to have you, but do not let it be your master.

8 And Cain said to his brother, Let us go into the field: and when they were in the field, Cain made an attack on his brother Abel and put him to death.

9 And the Lord said to Cain, Where is your brother Abel? And he said, I have no idea: am I my brother's keeper?

10 And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the earth.

11 And now you are cursed from the earth, whose mouth is open to take your brother's blood from your hand;

12 No longer will the earth give you her fruit as the reward of your work; you will be a wanderer in flight over the earth.

13 And Cain said, My punishment is greater than my strength.

14 You have sent me out this day from the face of the earth and from before your face; I will be a wanderer in flight over the earth, and whoever sees me will put me to death.

15 And the Lord said, Truly, if Cain is put to death, seven lives will be taken for his. And the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one might put him to death.

16 And Cain went away from before the face of the Lord, and made his living-place in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.

17 And Cain had connection with his wife and she became with child and gave birth to Enoch: and he made a town, and gave the town the name of Enoch after his son.

18 And Enoch had a son Irad: and Irad became the father of Mehujael: and Mehujael became the father of Methushael: and Methushael became the father of Lamech.

19 And Lamech had two wives; the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

20 And Adah gave birth to Jabal: he was the father of such as are living in tents and keep cattle.

21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all players on instruments of music.

22 And Zillah gave birth to Tubal-cain, who is the father of every maker of cutting instruments of brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.

23 And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, give ear to my voice; you wives of Lamech, give attention to my words, for I would put a man to death for a wound, and a young man for a blow;

24 If seven lives are to be taken as punishment for Cain's death, seventy-seven will be taken for Lamech's.

25 And Adam had connection with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son to whom she gave the name of Seth: for she said, God has given me another seed in place of Abel, whom Cain put to death.

26 And Seth had a son, and he gave him the name of Enosh: at this time men first made use of the name of the Lord in worship.

So, let's begin. The chapter begins with the fact that Adam and Eve had sons, Cain and Abel. When they grew up, Abel became a shepherd, a cattle breeder, and Cain became a farmer. I do not know what he grew, but I think it was vegetables, fruits and cereals, hard work.

Each of them brought as a gift to God the fruit of his labor, Cain brought the fruits of the earth, and Abel brought a sheep, or a calf, I cannot say exactly what kind of animal it was. But God accepted the gift of Abel, but He rejected the gift of Cain. I depicted these gifts in the lower part of the miniature in the center.

DSC02517.JPG

Cain was very sad, he worked long and hard, but God did not accept his gift. In this he blamed Abel. Remember in the third chapter of Genesis, God cursed Adam and Eve? He said that every snake would bite their heel.

So here, Cain let the snake bite him. This snake is pride. Cain considered himself superior to Abel and could not accept his defeat.

I painted Cain, who plows the ground and looks at his brother with a reproach over his shoulder. This I depicted in the upper left corner of the thumbnail.

DSC02519.JPG

When Cain and Abel met, Cain killed Abel. This is the first tragedy of the Holy Writ. I depicted this in the lower right corner of the thumbnail.

DSC02516.JPG

Our God is gracious and stern. He expelled Adam and Eve from Paradise, but even after that, He followed them closely. He continued to communicate with them and with their children, Cain and Abel. Cain's pride ruined this fellowship. God drove Cain out of his sight. This event entailed a curse on all generations of the human race.

All this, the Word of God, I portrayed it as an open book of the Bible in the upper right corner of the miniature. The raven scavenger symbolizes death.

Damned generations who remained without communion with God, I depicted a miniature in the lower left corner.

DSC02518.JPG

Fifth generation, after Cain - Lemah. Lemah felt Cain’s curse on himself. When a son was born to Lemakha, he multiplied the curse for the death of Cain's descendant to the entire human race. For the one who used to encroach on the life of Cain, the number of curses is seven. During the death of Lemah’s son, the number of curses increased seventy times. This is a very significant progression that has increased with each generation of Cain's descendants. Remember these numbers; they will allow you to understand the following chapters of the Holy Scriptures well.

DSC02521.JPG

For this chapter, I did not draw a white frame. This chapter is a dark spot on the human race.
DSC02565.JPG

This is the miniature on the main page, which tells about the history of the universe and Christianity. The thumbnail is drawn on an A5-size sheet; this is half the usual A4 sheet of paper for a printer.

I draw without a sketch, in one go. There are no pencil or traces of an eraser. I don’t leave myself the right to make mistakes, as the monks did in those times when they manually rewrote the Bible, page by page.

I am happy that the four chapters are next to each other. I thank God for giving me the strength and understanding of how to portray his Word.
