Why can't we see who flags posts?

in #downvotes8 years ago

Flagging posts (aka downvoting) is quickly becoming an important behavior on Steemit.

In the most notable downvoting to date, @berniesanders downvoted a @dollarvigalante post, knocking his payout down from over $2000 to $122. Bernie made a strong stance against fluff Steemit content, which has clearly been profitable content to date and a big part of the platform. His stance could play a big role in changing the direction of the content on here.

With flags such an important part of the experience now, why can't we see who flagged us? Currently, we can only easily see the number of flags in the top right corner of the post. The people who flag are nowhere to be found on the Steemit UI though, and the flag action doesn't show up on the blockchain via steemd either.

Do users have any way of finding out who downvotes posts? Is there a third-party service that tracks flags like Steem-o-graph tracks followers? If not, this needs to be built asap.

You can view them on steemd. Just turn the "it" in your URL bar to a "d" and it will take you to the steemd page for any given page. Bad thing is, when flags are shown, some people will get mad and counterflag. Not great, but can't really be avoided if the person knows what sites to go on.

thanks for the heads up, following you now

Agree with @benthegameboy
You can check everything on steemd history.

Saw one guy did return flagging posts after posts.
Just like WWIII
Read my Blog about it

Thanks! Not sure how I missed this.

You can see downvotes on Steemit! At least you can see the most impactful ones. At the bottom of your post, click where it says 65 votes (or however many you have when you get to this). You'll see a + by most of the names, but if you ever see a -, that means it's a downvote. This list is sorted in order of vote influence, so if @berniesanders downvotes you he'll show up at or near the top.

To see this in more detail, go to the steemd.com page for your post and search the page for "vote details". Click that link, and the column that says "pct" will show a -100% for anybody who downvotes you.

Thanks! I've used Steemd before, but only for my profile (never looked at an individual post). Appreciate the guidance :)

great post, i think it would be good to see for others who down votes you, but it will probably create more drama! So it shouldn't be encouraged I think, unless its spam or negative. This platform should stay happy and positive, but I see that seeing who did it would be a good thing! Lets hope someone builds that very soon! :)

it would be good to see downvotes so you can block someone who's trying to decrease your production

Agreed. If the light isn't shining on it, shadows begin to form.

I don't encourage Downvoting nor flagging.
These people are anti ethic as they are jealous or some sort.

note that it DOES show up on Steemd as @benthegameboy already mentioned just look carefully under the upvotes.
