Gloria Steinem said once:

Work is valued by the social value of the worker.

What a nice way of thinking!

That perfectly matches with what we're doing in this community on a daily basis. The true value in this eco-system is generated through social interaction. That's basically what I love most about this place :-)

Back to the headline: Today is 'International Worker's Day', which is also known as 'Labour Day' or 'Worker's Day'. It's a celebration of the 'working class' and a national public holiday in many countries worldwide.

Do you live at a place where this event is commemorated today? From my personal point of view, the 'Worker's Day' is one of the most important public holidays we have.

To celebrate and recognize work is a great way of appreciating people's contribution to the economy and society.

Working means providing value as well as it is a symbol for wealth and opportunity in life. So I hereby congratulate everybody who's so furtunate to have a job and get a living!

Now can you guess from the picture what the setting for my today's vlog was? I can anticipate that this is not the beach, haha :-)

Well if you're into graffity and hip hop music, then you'll probably enjoy these 60 seconds of sunshine anyways.

Have a great day, whether you're blessed with some leisure time or not...

Much love

Here in Australia in my state of Victoria we have a Labour Day public holiday in March. But happy May Day! I agree that it is one of the most important public holidays we have. I think lots of Australians are unfortunately a little apathetic when it comes to keeping solidarity with the workers, even though our Labour Day commemorates the achievement of the eight-hour day all the way back in 1855. The country was really quite progressive back then. I retain hope that people will be the most important part of our massive economy, not big business :)

Great comment, @sue-stevenson! Thank you :-)

If this was an article, I'd resteem it right away!
Maybe nowadays the true value of human labour is not always appreciated the way it should be... Great and important reminder, thank you!

I think it's true that our labour is totally unappreciated. Alomg with our bodies. If we can't slice ourselves thin enough to fit on some corporation's spreadsheet then we don't matter.

Luckily a new wave is coming :)

You're skating instead of surfing?! That's against the rules

Hahaha, I didn't actually know there were rules ?! :-D

US here: We have a Labour Day holiday, but it's on the first Monday in September, so... it's gonna take another while until we can celebrate the fruits of our labor :-)

Looking it up... On Hawaii, they celebrate Lei Day today. Never heard about it before, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

Oh that looks nice! Thanks for the link, just googled it and got a screen full of multi-coloured flowers.

I only knew Layday so far which means actually lazy day - when you're taking a day off from surfing :-)

In September you'll be the one telling us about your day off then...;-)
Thanks for stopping by @lisaliebeslust (the 2nd part of the nick is German right?)

(the 2nd part of the nick is German right?)

It is.. but there's not too much more where that came from.. except for a few commands for dogs :-)

I send you my most sincere congratulations, for being part of this conglomeration of fighting and creative people, who make Steemit a pleasant place to work.

Oh, thank you for your kind words! Love it! :-)
I can't agree more: this is actually a great place to work, get inspired and connect.

Go catch some waves haha :)

Yay, that's what I did!! :-))

Happy May Day! Too bad us Americans celebrate it by going to work as usual; my coworkers in India though got the day off

I'm guess the setting was a skate park? Where people skateboard and bike around? Yeah yeah such a bad guess

You guys celebrate this day on beginnings of september, right? Then you'll be able to pay it back to us :-))

Yes, the setting is a skate park - you're spot on!
Happy day for you, too

In my country Slovenia, we have 2 Worker's Day. I do not mind at all, although many economists bitch about it :).

Oh wow, two public holidays? That's special!

Happy workers day @surfermarly!
One quick question are you a dolphin or a whale here on steemit?

Happy workers day, @friendly-fenix (nice nickname)! :-)

I have no idea what I am, haha. I guess I was a dolphin before I started to power down some Steem. But I really can't tell you :-)

Thanks! @surfermarly is quite a moniker as well!
I saw you and @yallapapi's dialogue in his comment section, it was a quite entertaining read, feels like both of you guys are "right" in a way, โ€œthere are two sides to every coinโ€ I guess even a SBD or STEEM... =)

Haha, yeah it was also quite entertaining for us, I guess... Hope you had some popcorn! :-))

No I did not have popcorn, but I will get some next time! =)

Workers day really happy
I wish happiness to all workers
