Ulog 28 - One Year on Steemit

Today is my One Year Anniversary on Steemit and it is kind of a bittersweet day. When I first started on the platform, I pretty much decided to give it a year and to evaluate at that time.
Well, the time is here and I wished that I could sound a little bit more upbeat about this day.
Pretty much from the beginning, I have posted on a daily basis. I ran across @papapepper as one of the first users I followed and saw how his consistency had paid off for him. So, I modeled myself after him a bit - trying to post 3 to 4 times a day and interact a lot with other users.
As of now, according to Steemworld.org I have made 1025 posts and 16.563 comments. That is an average of 2.8 posts per day and 45.4 comments. I fell a bit short on the 4 posts per day, but if I count all the Freewrite House posts I have written, I am pretty close.
With all that writing and engagement I earned a whopping 1146 SP. That comes to 3.13 per day and I don't even want to know what that would make per hour. even if Steem gets to $ 10 in the near future - not very good. As it stands right now, not good.
I have more money in my wallet - that is mostly due to winning the epic Papa Pepper Selfie Challenge at a time when SBD was $ 10+. I powered up all my winnings.
On the positive side, I have learned a lot about formatting, blocking and even a little about the world of cryptocurrency.
The Best - the very best on Steemit are the people - the nice ones. But even many of the friends I made along the way have drifted off - often away from Steemit or deeply into projects of their own. At the same time, some exciting projects might develop. We shall see.
At this point, I don't know what my next year on Steemit will look like. I am pretty sure I still will be here, but I am equally sure that I won't be able to justify spending so much time on the platform.
Well, come back next year - same time, same place - and we will know a lot more.

Without you, I would've never stayed. 💓 Congratulations @mariannewest

Thank you, Bruni! You are one of the steemit highlights for me 😍

Congratulations on making it to one year! 🎉 🎉 🎉

2.8 posts and 45.5 comments per day is not bad, considering you also have to keep track of the freewrite prompts and are active in building the freewrite community.

@mariannewest... you are one of my most favouritest (it's not a word yet but I am sure it will someday make Oxford just like Bootylicious did) people on steemit
My wish for you is the 2nd year is going to be absolutely amazing and that moment that changes everything is just around the corner....😊

Thank you so much!!! And yes - let's make it a word :)

Happy Steemiversary! I am glad to have met you, and glad you are going to hang in for another year. I agree about not so much time, it is not about the money but the productivity. The time spent on steemit is time not spent on the homestead, that is the price I can't really afford to keep paying but I think I can find a balance. Gonna try, anyway!

i am going to try too. I have spent way too much time on Steemit - some of that is just because I don't know how to do things faster - learning LOL

Congrats on making it 1 year!! Most people don't put in the hard work and dedication that you have. You are truly inspirational to many, myself included. But it's true Steemit doesn't pay the bills, and everything you spend time doing comes at the expense of any other opportunities, so a re-evaluation can be a good thing. It can help keep you more focused on what you really want and need in life.

Thank you for the compliment - and you are pretty dedicated yourself. Both to Steemit and community building!
Yup. I have to think about it.
Things like the rather fast steepshot chicken pictures I post are for the most part making a much bigger payout then lengthy posts that might take me forever. Even the prompt takes a bit to post since I try to include new information every day - and of course, reading people's work. But the payout is pretty low :) Oh well. Balance - that is the thing to thrive for.

Well, congratulations on reaching the year mark. You've accomplished a lot in that period of time, just in the posts and comments alone. And I happen to think earning that much SP is pretty amazing. No, it's not something to live off of, but it's still more than many of us can expect to see at a year based on what we've been doing.

I hope you get to the point where you can take out earnings and use it for what you will. I'm pretty sure that will be accomplished sooner by doing what you're doing than it would easing up. You do have to follow your own mind and heart though and do what you feel is prudent. I just hope STEEM hits $10 and beyond so we all can see what we've done. :)

Thank you. I hear what you are saying - but at the same time, I have to concentrate on my podcast a bit more. I just discovered Steempeak and that might actually a good tool to cut time. Check it out. You can save templates, drafts and schedule posts.

I took a look at Steempeak when it was first announced and it looked promising. It just wasn't quite finished enough for me at the time, so I've been using Steemit.

And I don't mind answering you on this account. :) I hope you get a chance to do more on your podcast and things work out more the way you want it to over the course of the next 365. :)

Thank you so much :)

Sorry, answered as the wrong account - but too tired to fix it all. So double Thank YOU!

Good to learn from you ma.
Your dedication has always been a source of inspiration to me. Even though we are interested in different fields, you in literature and me in technology. Guess I still have a long way to go. Happy anniversary @mariannewest

Thank you so much!! I wished I would understand technology a bit better. That would be helpful on this platform 🤓

Arghhh - used the wrong account :) thank you as myself as well LOL

You seem to have gone through a lot this past year, and I want to say thank you so much for all the information you've gathered and given to us! Right now I know STEEM isn't very much on the cryptocurrency market but honestly, the reason I joined Steemit is for the people like you said. The nice ones are great to interact with and talk with. I know it's a bit hard for those who may be dependent on STEEM as their income but I can't really say that there will be a great boost in STEEM's near future. For now, we can only hope that the community strives to make quality posts and help gain value in STEEM, and we can start by doing so ourselves!

Thank you so much for your kind words. There is a big community effort to have quality posts and I am sure that will continue.

Thank you!! used the wrong account but meant every word I said. And I am glad that you are writing with us!

Haha, no problem! And I'm glad to be writing :)
