Pallet Wood Sofa Table - DIY Build - 100% Wood from Pallets
We made this table a while back just before we got on Steemit and so we don't have pictures of how we did it. One day we just went through our scrap pile on our lanai and got a few pieces together. The top section is made out of two pallet wood slats made out of pine. We jointed and planed them then joined them together. We then put the whole piece back on the table saw, and lowered the blade, and cut out a channel to do an insert. We would use this insert to hide the screw which would fasten the top to the leg.
The next problem was making the leg. We took two pieces of the 2x4s and glued them together. There were a bunch on nails in them. We used a belt sander to smooth it and shape it to look like a tree branch. Once we got it to the shape we wanted we stained it with a Dark Walnut Danish Oil.
We made the base out of the oak slats of another pallet. In order to get a thicker piece we glued scraps to the oak pieces to make it thicker then we trimmed it with other oak strips.
Now it was time to put it together. We glued the base of the leg to the base and screwed it in from the bottom. We did the same for the top and dropped a screw in the channel we cut. We used a strip of oak and glued that in to the channel. Once the glue set we took strips of pine to make boarders around the piece. We then sanded the whole piece smooth.
We then coated the piece with Shellac and sanded it smooth. We did this process five times. Now we have a utility table for our sofa.
This looks like a foundation to a cat scratch! Anyways, it's pretty unique :)
Never thought about that. I am allergic to cats to we will never know.
