Why is that hard for Steem to gain value??? #discussions
Don't we love Steem enough?
It's quite hard to comprehend how is Steem not gaining value when the number of users are growing
When I joined I was at 185.000 user registered
Now we are 400.000 congratulations Steemit.com
Steem was $2.60. With 185.000 users
And now $1.09 with 400.000 users
If Bitcoin doubles in number of users, I am sure it will skyrocket!
Why isn't the case with Steem?
Is the continuous Power Down of Steemit.com users affecting the price?
Some have invested heavily and now work hard on power down to make as much cash as possible especially when the Steem price rises a bit like with the Smart Media Tokens SMT announcement
Or are whale's playing with Steem on exchanges
Can that be the case
Whatever the reason reason I am sure is not following Bitcoin like some alts
Nut now with this many users is impossible for a few of them not to buy Steem
Let's just make a small calculation
But I honestly have no real insight of how much or if the new users buy Steem
I am just thinking of me and my girlfriend @artaddict that we have by now bought 500 Steem paid $650
Since I Joined 12JUNE2017 ,,115.000 new users have registered on Steemit.com
For the sake of the calculation we can say that from the 115.000 new users only 10% of them bought at least $250 Steem
11500 by 250 you get 2.875.000 new Steem bought and powered up
So at least we can see something being bought by the community
Now we have a total of 259 millions of Total Steem
How long would take to the new users coming from now on to acquire all the Steem
If in my 4 months
There have been bought 2.875.000 Steem
It will take 1 year for 8.625. 000
259.948.573 Total Steem Supply Divided by 8.625.000
Equals to 30.13 years for all the Steem to belong to the users
The Calculation is not to be taken seriously as there is no real stable conditions or proper insight with or if 10% of the users bought Steem
IF Price of Steem was to stay the same if no one had any Steem already powered up ... Etc many other things
However me and @artaddict have almost 1000 Steem, some power up, some on Bittrex that will be transferred tonight to be powered up
Myself I am only wondering why is Steem not able to rise

The price spike was imo due to a combination of a pump and dump and the news release of the new "Smart Media Tokens" coming to steemit. Someone pumped the price to make people have fomo and buy in and when the momentum died they quickly dumped.
