What do you think about hot and trending posts ?
I visit hot and trending posts almost everyday, and I still don't undrstand why people there earn that much. I've writen a lot of posts in this four months. I even tried to do almost like them. I've writen about a lot of topics. I've done contests and giveaway. I am advertizing steemit everywhere. I am commenting and posting everyday. I am upvoting people. But I don't even earn a dollar from my post.

Most people who are in hot and trending posts joined steemit in 2016. Is that mean that if you join in 2017 you don't deserve to earn that much ? Is that mean if you don't know people that joined that time you don't deserve to earn that much ? Is that mean that there are just a cult of people earning on steemit and they don't care about new people ?

I am tired about asking people about what to do to grow,. Will I earn the same even after one year being here and posting everyday ? What's wrong with me ? What I am doing wrong, tell me please !

I hope that we will find the answer to that question, help find the secret, resteem this and upvote, we may find the secret of hot and trending posts and we all will use it to grow !

Most of the people who earn high rewards are backed by whales (that is people with tens of thousands or even over a million dollars invested into steem) I've invested only a single thousand dollars into steem and my upvote is worth about $0.10
There's no big secret to attracting these whales it's simply a matter of time, as long as you have what they're looking for and remain consistent.
I think the big problem with steemit is the masses and masses of people joining that do not want to invest in the platform financially... up votes from people who have not invested are basically worth nothing, you could have hundreds of up votes from users that have not invested and make no money at all, you could get one up vote from someone who has chosen to invest (whale) and make $100.
You can help yourself out a bit by using various strategies, boosters excetera but it all comes down to the whales...
You said as long as you have what they're looking for, what do you mean by that ? Do you know what are exactly looking for ?
Well whatever it is they're looking for I don't have it, so not sure myself, most of the money I plan to make through Steam will be by way of investment and I like posting just for fun.
So we have to keep doing that for fun till some whales will notice us, it's the only way to grow and it's funny. ☺
Yeah I'm just going to keep on going for fun with no expectations, or else it just gets stressful.
What makes it stressful is as you've pointed out there's no real reason that I can see that separates people who get the whales attention and those who don't just kind of a chance thing.
Obviously increasing the amount of time you spend on the platform commenting regular consistent posts increases your chances of getting a whale, but still just chance in my opinion.
For someone like me with a full-time job who can't be steeming all day long, I'm just going to try to put whatever money I can in steem as an investment.
I thought the same thing when I joined. It took me many months of posting before I really earned anything. Many more months after that to earn more than a few dollars. I kept at it though, and continued to network (make friends). Eventually I found myself ending up on the trending page.
I'm not going to lie, it was a lot of work. It is definitely possible though.
As far as what the whales are looking for - every one is different, but in general I would say they are looking for things/users that will make the value of their investment go up. As a user, you want to ask yourself the question - what can you do / post about that will add value to the platform.
Thanks for the amazing tip, I will think about that and I will try to be more useful to the community, and thank you for such upvote I am missing that kind of upvotes ! ☺
Yup. This.
I have been posting a month(whatever), and been noticed 2 times by some 'bigger players'- that felt good !
Oh , I got on the trending page!
Apart from that, only small amounts for posts. (sometimes 3 or 4 a day of original content)
It time effort, and original content - I think. Oh and networking.
(hence the follow lol)
I very much agree there's the wrong idea going around that steam it is in any way a get rich quick scheme, as with anything it's going to be a lot of work.
I would also agree that attracting the whales is very much about giving them the impression that you will increase the value of their investment.
I understand your frustration. For me, it helps to not think about the money I am earning. I am nearly convinced that in order to make large or even decent sums of money, you have to invest a lot into steemit.
Yes you are right, just a few thousands of dollars are not enough, you need to have much more and spend in advertizing also, just by posting and commenting we can't make a good money here.
That can be very frustrating and it goes against the main unique selling proposition of Steemit as a site that pays you for blogging, posting, commenting and upvoting.
Another BIG challenge with steemit is the approval process. It can be very frustrating after applying and not be approved after several days of waiting and no feedback on whether you have been approved or not, and the reasons for not being approved.
The approval process is inimical to steemit/steem mass adoption and certainly not sustainable at all! It is somethong @ned should address rapidly for the growth and sustainability of steemit and steem.
Thanks.

I agree its very frustrating. I have seen posts with 74 votes but not one comment, and USD140 +, how is this possible? When you check who voted you will see they are all paid for upvotes. This is what makes it so difficult for those of us wanting to make a difference, with new material - no one notices! I also think Steemit is advertised incorrectly, because everyone believes its easy to make money here, when in fact it takes a lot of time and dedication to write a decent post, and then its disappointing when no one even bothers to look or acknowledge it. I have given myself three months trial to see how it goes, and then I will decide whether to continue or not. I have seen a few post lately that mention that Steemit will take over Facebook, I personally cant see that happening, FB is easy and quick and fun, Steemit takes dedication and a lot of hard work! The question is also how much time do you have/ or want to invest for very little return unless you have a lot to invest initially?
The only way is to never give up I think, facebook will never pay a cent for our posting, even earning some money in steemit is ok, it's better than nothing. ☺
It is Really A frustrating thing. I have seen lots of people who joined steemit last month and The Have earned good money in one month. I think the quality of the content matters most. And I think the people with professional skills are successful here. I mean to say That People Who are good writers, Web developeres, Software Developers and Every Kind of Professional and passionate people. People With No Skills Like Me Can Not Earn That Much as they can. As you have see the posts that are on trending are of those people who are professional and trying to develop steemit by creating Tools for steemit and providing knowledge about the Universe that articles are based on their own research and observations that's why they are appreciated most. So the only thing we can do is just hard work . Do Hard work and post some kind of knowledge. Do Not Mind please I have seen that your posts are based on the content that just helps newcomers and of value in front of Whales because they already know the basics and tricks of steemit. So Be a content creator rather than being a consultant for newcomers. I Believe you can do a good job.
We shall get there. Be consistent
