Are you new to Discord and started running your own server or have been running one? If you're using voice chat, there are down times when no one is talking and it can get boring so why not add some music for you and others to enjoy!

Where to Start

Visit https://bots.discord.pw/.

Here, you can find a range of different bots to utilize in your Discord server. We will go over a couple music bots you might want to try out.

Step 1.

  • Enter "pandora" in the search bar and hit search.

From here, you will see a few options for this bot. You can view a description of the bot, visit their website, and invite this bot to your server.

Step 2.

  • Click "Invite"

Make sure you are logged into your Discord account on your web browser. You will be brought to a page to view permissions the bot needs. You also need to have administrative rights for the server you are adding the bot to.

Step 3.

  • Select which server you would like to add the bot to (Administrative rights required).

  • Then select "Authorize"

You will notice the Pandora bot added to your server in the list of users. From here you can start using the bot.

Step 4.

Type P!playin the text chat to start the Pandora music bot.

When you want to stop the music, just typeP!stop.

If you want to see the list of commands, type P!help and you will get a direct message from the bot that will show you the list of commands or just visit: https://bots.discord.pw/bots/255933783293820928

Now there is one drawback of using the Pandora music bot. Since you are not able to set who can control the bot, anyone on your server can use the commands to control the bot. If you have a server where only mods and the admin are allowed to type, then regular users won't have the ability to use the commands. There is an alternative bot you could use called the Dyno bot.

Dyno Bot

The Dyno bot is capable of setting only mods and admin to be able to use the commands and have complete control of the bot.

Just follow the same steps above with the Pandora music bot and just search for "Dyno". When you have the bot in the server, head over to: https://www.dynobot.net/.

Step 7.

  • Login to your Discord account if you already aren't.

Step 8.

  • Select which server you would like to add the bot to (Administrative rights required).

Step 9.

  • Go through the options and setup your Dyno bot. In the "Music" option on the left, you can find the setting to only allow mods/dj to have control of the bot. You may need to create roles if you already haven't in the server settings on Discord.

Dyno pulls music from YouTube and you will need to create a queue list.

Step 10.

Go back to Discord and in the text chat, type ?play ARTIST - SONGTITLE to add the song to your queue list and to start playing the music. Each song you try to play, it will be added to your queue list.

To stop, type ?stop. Youcan see your queue list by typing ?queue list. Anytime you want to start playing your music again, just type ?play.

For the full list of commands, visit: https://www.dynobot.net/commands.

The great thing about Dyno bot is that it's more than just a music player. It has a ton of features you can utilize in your server.

Dyno Bot Features:

  • Moderation - Moderation with Mod log, timed mutes and bans
  • Auto Moderation - Advanced and fully configurable
  • Mass Mention spam/raid detection and ban
  • Web Dashboard - Fully configurable.
  • Announcements - Customizable join/leave/banned, optional PM user
  • Music - Music with youtube search
  • Auto Roles - Give role on join
  • Joinable Ranks - Let members self-assign ranks/roles
  • Custom Commands - Easy to use custom commands
  • AFK - Post an AFK status when mentioned in chat
  • Reminders
  • Google search

I think it's absolutely amazing you've made a post on my bot! (I made an account just to reply!) Thanks so much! Just so you know, in the future, Pandora will have EXTREME permissions (it was already planned) and will have an extreme amount of customization compared to previous versions. Glad you love the bot! :)

That's awesome!!! I'm glad you could join us here on Steem and thank you for the kind words. I look forward to reading your post. Feel free to contact me on Discord or on here if you need any help :)

Just realised that post was 14 days old. Moving upvote here from you post. Really liked your expectations post btw.

Oh lol well, thank you. I appreciate that.

excellent post

Worth mentioning another good bot list is Carbonitex, and there's a few other good bots including some for team organizing and event planning, or better music bots.

Now you know we need this in Steemit101!!!

Yea, we'll get it in there if you want.

Way too cool! Is the music turned off when someone else enters?

No, everyone can hear if they are in the voice channel,

This is something I need to try, I have a Discord server for QSOUNDS, and you mentioned Pandora music service/bot can play from YouTube! Wow, I post a lot of music post using YouTube music :) Would be great if it also supports Soundcloud and Mixcloud. Do you know more of this music bots that may have more settings/control links to music sources? Or is this THE one to go for?

Yes, there are others that support soundcloud. At the beginning of the post, I mentioned that you can search for other bots as well...

Ok cool, will maybe frist search because to combo of YouTube and Soundcloud support would be fantastic, Than I wan to add music channel to qsounds channel. I can then run all the music I post about in the music bot; Like that idea :)

SoundCloud and Spotify support is definitily something we're looking forward too in the future!

Cool, I;m now using HIME, it support both YouTube and Soundcloud. Im actually only using playlist at Soundcloud to play through the bot in a radio/broadcast type of channel.

Pandora music is the best. I will try it. Thank you.

Yes, many people enjoy Pandora. Hope you enjoy it.
