RE: Myths about diets

in #diet6 years ago

Nice article I'm a cuban dr, in my coutry people has got many myths about meals fattening. Sime of them are:

  1. Water gets fatter during meals.
FALSE: Water is a caloric nutrient, meaning it does not provide calories. Therefore it does not get fat or lose weight if it is taken before, during or after meals. In addition, water is an important source of minerals and electrolytes and a vital element to keep us properly hydrated.
  2. There are foods that lose weight
FALSE: All food provides calories, the main conditioning is the intake of them. Therefore the determinant is the total diet, there is no specific food, no food to lose a gram. We must find the balance between intake and energy expenditure.
  3. The fruit after the meal is fattening
FALSE: The fruit has the same calories, does not get fat because it is taken in a certain order, but because the amount of calories ingested exceeds the needs of the individual. What is certain is that the fruit has a high fiber content, which causes a feeling of fullness. In certain diets of weight loss they advise it because they have less appetite in the following dishes. A balanced diet should include the consumption of at least three pieces a day of fruit, as they are an important source of vitamins and minerals.
