Chalk It Up -- My Daily Fantasy Basketball Journey Vol. 2
Yesterday's slate only had 3 games. Normally I wouldn't bother since it is so hard to differentiate lineups, but I decided for the good of this blog series.
Of the 3 games, 2 had potential for blowouts. Normally I tend to avoid games that have blowout potential, but with only 3 games on the slate there is no way to avoid it.
My locks were:
Blake Griffith -- Without CP3 and a limited selection at PF, Blake Griffith was a no-brainer.
Brandon Ingram -- was also an easy pick since KCP is out.
Jordan Clarkson -- With the departure of D'Angelo Russell and Lou Williams, and his price tag being only $4700.
Lou Williams -- it was a revenge game for him and his price tag at $4700 seemed low.
At the center position I wanted to pay up for Deandre Jordan. Without CP3 he should have an increased role in scoring. At SF I paid up for Paul George. With Julius Randle questionable I wanted whoever LA would start at PF, either Kuzma or Nance for some value. (Funny thing is I missed the update for LA roster and had Kuzma instead of the starter Nance. While Kuzma did OK, Nance scored more). That left me with about $13700 to pick 2 PGs. That meant there was no way to get Westbrook, so I took Lowry. That left only $5100 so I had to go with Ramon Sessions at $4600.
After thinking about it, I really wanted Russell Westbrook, so I ended up making another roster with my Center being Jonas Valaciunas to fit him in.
Here are my 2 rosters for entries into the $500K Thu NBA Clutch Shot Encore ($100K to 1st):
Results:
My first lineup without Westbrook just missed cashing by less than 2 points. My Westbrook lineup did well and I ended up with 301.80 points enough to get me 5240th place and $10 prize. Both entries cost me $4 each so total profit for both was $2.
Running Profit Total from Day 1 $5.91 + $2 brings me to $7.91 proft so far in 2 days.
Final Thoughts:
By far Westbrook was the best player at PG, but with the addition of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, you would have to assume his share of the scoring pie would go down. However there was only 3 games so it is a good thing I made that 2nd lineup with Westbrook.
