[ESP/ENG] Diseño de Logotipo / Logo Design - (@TribeSteemUp Design Contest Entry)
Here we are again with another Logo Design for a contest entry held by @elamental where contestants have to design a logo for @TribeSteemUp. We haven’t had a lot of time to hang out on Steemit lately since we’re developing some content for our other community account @Maracay, taking care of our doggos and trying to keep Multitaskers work flow going on, but… There is always time to develop some graphics for fun and because we got so inspired with this project.
@TribeSteemUP from it’s words is:
Tribe Steem Up is a voting bot created by @kennyskitchen to help support high quality content creators on the Steemit platform, whose subject matter consists of promoting projects and philosophies that benefit the Earth and humanity in truly positive ways. The tribe has recently reached some amazing heights helping so many hard core humanitarian and environmental efforts, as well as expanding the messages of the freedom movement and truth, from everyday people. I would not be where I am today without the support of @kennyskitchen & the @tribesteemup project.

Aquí estamos de nuevo con otro Diseño de Logotipo para una entrada concurso realizada por @elamental donde los concursantes tienen que diseñar un logotipo para @TribeSteemUp. No hemos tenido mucho tiempo para pasar el rato en Steemit últimamente ya que estamos desarrollando algún contenido para nuestra otra cuenta de la comunidad @Maracay, cuidando de nuestros perritos y tratando de mantener el flujo de trabajo Multitaskers en marcha, pero... Siempre hay tiempo para desarrollar algunos gráficos por diversión y porque nos inspiramos con este proyecto.

Tribe Steem Up es un robot de votación creado por @kennyskitchen para ayudar a apoyar a los creadores de contenido de alta calidad en la plataforma Steemit, cuya temática consiste en promover proyectos y filosofías que beneficien a la Tierra y a la humanidad de formas verdaderamente positivas. La tribu ha alcanzado recientemente alturas increíbles ayudando a tantos esfuerzos humanitarios y ambientales, así como expandiendo los mensajes del movimiento por la libertad y la verdad, de la gente común. No estaría donde estoy hoy sin el apoyo de @kennyskitchen y el proyecto @tribesteemup.

THE IDEA
First of all we did our research about what’s a “tribe”, the graphic/symbolic elements that represents it, what kind of tribes do we want to represent (violent, communal, producers, big ones, small ones, there are many kinds), what a tribe logo should inspire, of course we did some sketches while Googling stuffs.
LA IDEA
En primer lugar hicimos nuestra investigación sobre lo que es una "tribu", los elementos gráficos/simbólicos que la representan, qué tipo de tribus queremos representar (violentas, comunales, productoras, grandes, pequeñas, hay muchas clases), qué debe inspirar un logo de tribu, por supuesto hicimos algunos bocetos mientras buscábamos cosas en Google.
We didn’t wanted the logo to represent something too violent or negative so we ignored the axes and X look graphics, we had many ideas about typography and/or lettering to match it but it looked like something was missing. We drew a tribe mask that due to our research we learned that those kind of masks were used by the oldest and wisest people on communal tribe rituals. These people used to be the heads of the community with vast experiences who lived with god-like qualities that they acquired during their younger life.
No queríamos que el logo representara algo demasiado violento o negativo, así que ignoramos las hachas y los bocetos en forma de X, teníamos muchas ideas acerca de la tipografía y/o lettering para hacerlas coincidir, pero parecía que faltaba algo, entonces dibujamos una máscara de tribu que debido a nuestra investigación nos enteramos de que ese tipo de máscaras eran usadas por las personas más viejas y sabias en los rituales de las tribus comunales, estas personas solían ser los jefes de la comunidad con grandes experiencias vividas y con las cualidades de dioses que adquirían durante su vida más joven.
CONSTRUCTION
We used the circle/circumference as aurea proportion to diagram to build this logo. Everything that you see is made out of circumference segments (arches) that togheter makes many other complex forms. If what you see is not exactly a circumference even so we took the lineal proportions of the circles and made some straight lines where we needed as we did with the font size and spacing.
CONSTRUCCÓN
Usamos el círculo/circunferencia como proporción de aurea para diagramar y construir este logo, todo lo que ves está hecho de segmentos de circunferencia (arcos) que juntos hacen muchas otras formas complejas. Si lo que ves no es exactamente una circunferencia aun así tomamos las proporciones lineales de la misma e hicimos algunas líneas rectas donde lo necesitábamos como lo hicimos con el tamaño de la fuente y el espaciado.
The straight and perfect lines that result from vectors looked way too perfect for the theme, so we tweaked some of those lines to give it a hand drawn look with some "imperfections" here and there and it resulted exactly how we wanted.
Las líneas rectas y perfectas que resultan de los vectores se veían demasiado perfectas para el tema, así que ajustamos un poco esas líneas para darle un aspecto dibujado a mano con algunas "imperfecciones" aquí y allá y resultó exactamente como queríamos.
MEANING
As expressed by @elamental on the contest post, we included every aspect of the concept of the logo without making it too obvious or imposing. Let’s Split the @TribeSteemUp username in three parts Tribe, Steem, Up, and we’ll explain how we included in the design.
Tribe Mask (Tribe): As we commented before, those masks were used by the oldest and wisest people on communal tribe rituals, these people use to be the heads of the community with vast experiences who had god-loke qualities that they acquired during their younger life. That would represent the support that TribeSteemUp bot gives to the Steem community.
Steem logo interpretation (Steem): It’s already obvious we’re on the Steem Platform and because of that we wanted to include the cryptocurrency logo that keeps Steemit running. We did not just come on it, we wanted it to look as if were a part of it so we made it anchor by anchor just like the rest of the logo.
Upvote arrow (Up/Upvote): As you read at the beginning of this post @TribeSteemUp is a voting bot created to help support high quality content creators on the Steemit platform, whose subject matter consists of promoting projects and philosophies that benefit the Earth and humanity in truly positive ways.
Arrow: The arrow pointing right, is an element that represent two things, first, we used it because it's an common element on tribes in order to survive and also because now days we see arrows everyday as the computer pointer and we wanted it to represent as a digital and technological element; Second, it's pointing right because psicologically that means "right" and "forward". It is also representing that the project is growing up and supporting a bigger portion of Steem community everytime.
SIGNIFICADO
Según lo expresado por @elamental en el post del concurso, incluimos todos los aspectos del concepto del logotipo sin hacerlo demasiado obvio o impuesto. Vamos a dividir el nombre de usuario @TribeSteemUp en tres partes Tribe, Steem, Up, y le explicaremos cómo lo incluimos en el diseño.
Máscara de Tribu (Tribu): Como comentamos antes, esas máscaras eran usadas por las personas más viejas y sabias en los rituales de las tribus comunales, estas personas solían ser las cabezas de la comunidad con vastos expereinces vivían y tenían las cualidades de Dios que adquirieron durante su vida más joven. Eso representaría el apoyo que el bot TribeSteemUp da a la comunidad steem.
Interpretación del logotipo de Steem (Steem): Ya es obvio que estamos en la Plataforma Steem y por eso queríamos incluir el logotipo de la criptomoneda que mantiene el steemit funcionando, no sólo lo pegamos en el logotipo, sino que queríamos que se viera como parte de él y eso significa que lo hicimos ancla por ancla como el resto del logotipo.
Flecha hacia arriba (Up/Upvote): Como leíste al principio de este post @TribeSteemUp es un bot de votación creado para ayudar a apoyar a los creadores de contenido de alta calidad en la plataforma Steemit, cuya temática consiste en promover proyectos y filosofías que beneficien a la Tierra y a la humanidad de maneras verdaderamente positivas.
La punta de flecha: La flecha apuntando a la derecha, es un elemento que representa dos cosas, primero, porque es un elemento común en las tribus para sobrevivir y también porque hoy en día vemos flechas todos los días como el puntero de la computadora y queríamos que representara como un elemento digital y tecnológico; segundo, está apuntando a la derecha porque psicológicamente eso significa "derecha" y "hacia adelante" también, representando que el proyecto está creciendo y apoyando a una mayor porción de la comunidad de Steem cada vez.
COLORS
This logo could be a very colorful one but we decided to stick with the yellow/brown color pallete like the masks are before getting all those color decorations, just like raw hand sculpted wood.

Este logo podría ser muy colorido, pero decidimos adherirnos a la paleta de colores amarillo/marrón como las máscaras antes de obtener todas esas decoraciones de color, al igual que la madera esculpida a mano en bruto.
The logo like many others started as black, but once this one was ready and we knew the palette we wanted to use we started playing with a couple tones and some shading as well, as you can see on the image above the base color was yellow. Then we overlapped the brown to highlight the strategic elements for the eye to notice first. At the end we added some vertical shadows on the laterals and a little lighting on the center.
El logo como muchos otros empezó a ser negro, una vez que éste estaba listo y conocíamos la paleta que queríamos usar empezamos a jugar con un par de tonos y algo de sombreado también, como se puede ver en la imagen de arriba el color base era amarillo, el sobreponíamos el marrón para resaltar los elementos estratégicos para que el ojo lo notara primero, al final añadimos unas sombras verticales en los laterales y un poco de iluminación en el centro.

First of all just let me say wow, this is exactly the kind of forethought I wanted to see for design creation, and your execution of it was amazing. I love your explanation of how and why you used the symbolism you did for each element of your design.
Also, I liked where you were going with the colors originally, and would love to see a rendition with the blue Steemit logo, green up symbol, and purple arrow, which kind of makes it look like a mouse cursor.
Color is good, you are free to enter another with the color if you would like, the contest is open for one more day after the entry post pays out. Thank you so much for putting in all this effort, even the sketch looks great!
The result just indicates we had some fun while doing it, we got really inspired with the tribe theme 😜
I understand there is a second part of the contest where we can submit some other color options or any other modification that the tribe would like right? Of course that's in the case that our design makes it to top 5 😁
