If you're literally any human person ever, you would by now have undergone the horrible experience that is getting your hopes crashed. You anticipated the success of something, be it an experiment or a pregnancy, an examination or a vacancy only to have your hopes brutally taken away.
I like to say that with every disappointment, a little bit of me dies. That the first disappointment made a gaping hole that let my happiness, and eagerness and expectancy leak until I ran out of f*cks to give, but I realized that there was no point in fighting on if I didn't try. You, me, we, them. We've survived a lot. We'll be fine.
