Exercise as alternative and natural treatment to Depression and Anxiety

Depression and Anxiety are very dangerous to health. Many have committed suicide because of this psychological disorder and imbalance. They feel hostile towards others, and feel nobody care about them. We can help depressed victim as a friend, neighbour and family. Also if you have already identified depression with yourself you already have a solution at your door step, you can summon courage and help yourself combat depression with the few tips I’m going to be sharing with you today.

What is Depression?

According to Psychiatry.org

Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Causing feelings of sadness and loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. source

Today I’m going to lay more emphasis on how to can combat depression and anxiety with planned physical activities (Exercise). Exercise often seems like the last thing you will want to engage yourself in when you are depressed, you feel you cannot achieve anything. Everything seems to be negative on your mind. Yes, it is normal for a depressed person to feel that way, but you can help yourself by motivating yourself to start doing some planned physical activities (exercise).
Exercise helps to boost your immune mechanism and also to improve health challenges. There are diverse of psychological and physical benefits of subjecting your body to exercise, such as managing high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, depression, anxiety among others.

When you engage in exercising your system, endorphins, the body natural antidepressant. Exercising for at least about 40 minutes at least for beginners 3day/week or intermediate 5days in a week will give you amazing anti-depressant effect. Exercise is an alternative medicine and it is very effective.
Exercise will not only increase the flow of blood to the brain, but also release anti-depressant called endorphins and other neurotransmitters, e.g. serotonin that combat moodiness.

Using pill or all form of depressant medication is not only the way out of the problem. In fact some victim of depression are tired of using pill. Exercise is one of the effective natural alternative to medication therapy to combat depression and anxiety. Research had shown over time without numbers that exercise is very effective in treating depression without taking any medication. Exercise improve sleep which brings about the improvement of brain function that will make you feel better. Engaging in physical activity spurs the release of proteins known as neurotrophic which cause the nerve cell to grow and establish connections. Exercise also develop nerve cell in the hippocampus which will help you relieve depression.

So if you are close to people that are affected with depression and anxiety, you can help them out, by planning to go on workout together with them early in the morning or in the evening. It may be normal work or jogging. During this process of workout try to socialise with them, crack jokes. And as a victim, if you plan to do it alone, that is if you have been motivated to do it, go with your headset and play music during the workout as that will be your companion.

Exercise also boost your confidence. Building up boldness in you. It give you the opportunity to socialise and meet new people which you will be exchanging conversation with and also smile, laugh and talk about life together. That will help you get out of moody situation, then you feel loved again. Some folks thinks drinking alcohol will help them get out of depression, no it will only increase it and harm your immune system. Trying out good things is the way out and not by having fun in a negative way. .

Exercise is not limited to work out only, there varieties of exercise you can engage in. In fact playing basketball, football, lifting weights washing and some physical activities in your garden just to get you up and active. Whenever am moody, I do help myself by playing Lawn-Tennis with friends, because that is one of the sport I love playing. it will clear my head off very situation bordering me. I also play football with friends, in fact I will say joining neighbourhood football team will help you a lot to combat depression. When it comes to team sport you will make friends and it will keep you happy. You do not have to engage in all physical activities, all you have to do is to find one or three you will engaging in monthly that will give you joy. You can even consider biking or cycling to work.

She is our Director of Counselling. One of her advice to parents is

it is not until depression significantly started affecting your life or your child that it is noticed. Really we should at showing people, children effective ways of dealing with stress and worry, like mindfulness and meditation for example, so they don’t carry emotional baggage into adulthood. This should be as important as other lessons they learn.

Conclusion

Exercise and Physical activities are proofing effective ways of combating depression and anxiety. Engaging your body in physical exercise will makes you feel good, taking off your moodiness. It will also increase your social interaction with others and also gain confidence. You do not have to do all exercise, just choose few ones you like to engage in. Work-out can do it or playing games with friends will also help.

Exercise is a great way to help in elevating moods. There have been some recent studies that suggest laughter yoga is an effective way to elevate depressed moods. And it may be easier to start than going to a gym as some depressed people don't want to leave their homes. A really good article, brother.
