Death Thoughts DailysteemCreated with Sketch.

Lying in bed, last night, I started to have a panic attack...my chest tightened, my breathing became laborious.

I was thinking about death, of course.

This happens to me for about 15-30 seconds, several times a day.

Usually, they are fleeting snips, uncatchable , like
———imagining the impact of a car wreck (would there be pain, or would it be instant black?)
———years of suffering through cancer (definitely pain, but maybe someone to hold your hand)
———a space toilet falling from the sky (instant, unknowable fate)
———nuclear disaster (hoping for instantaneous, but awareness of the struggles of not dying)
———choking on a hotdog (like, holy shit, this actually happened to someone I knew—what was going through their mind?)

As I said, these are usually quick, flashing thoughts—sometimes lifetimes of information distilled into little micro-universes in my mind.

Last night was not much different—

What happens when a person dies in their sleep?
———Do they know they are dying?
———Would it be “better” to know you are going?
———What are a person’s last thoughts? (Who cares about what they say, really?)

I really hope I wake up.

Thantophobia is the perverse fear of death—phobia style. I would like to think I don’t qualify for this label, but these intrusive panic inducing thoughts make me question my sanity, at times.

Everybody dies, it is an inescapable fact. The only unknowns in that equation are How and When.

Don’t even get me started on the “after.”

Please III don't think about death Steemit still love you.

I actually am quite happy that I think about death all the time. Guess I’ll be prepared.

This is really sad to know about your sufferings..... please don't think about death you still have long way to go

I don’t feel that I am suffering...and if it is suffering, I want to share it—‘cause I know I’m not the only one.

Wow I sometimes forget how common the human experience transends. I wouldn't say it causes me to much pain but several times a day I see my own catastrophic death. Perfectly related to my current activities. Driving is especially concerning since statistics suggest it as the highest probability for real death.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the multiverse of my fates and somehow I get to continue on while I watch the end of myself over and over.

One of the most vivid ones that gets me is when I'm skiing and I am going really fast. (My speed record is 85mph 136kph) I see my ski pole impaleing me. I would say in a way it helps me stay alive, since I can see my possible deaths and act to reduce those outcomes

Keep on SteeminOn man you will live so long as you will it

Every time I am driving around a curve, my brain says, “well, you know in multiverse #33421341, other you just drove into that tree...”

Dear @puddles are you really afraid of death or of things you would leave unfinished?

Ha! Right on point. I have actually purposefully left things unfinished, so the world would know it was not my time...

Write a song about it or create some art. Thats how i deal with my demons. It may assist you as well. :)

Oh, I do...and study psychology, too.

I have the same issue. It's one of the reasons I take CBD oil.

That reminds me, I need to re-up my CBD!

CBD really helps with anxiety!

Thinking about death too much takes away from living. Life is good! Death is inevitable. Enjoy life. It feels good when I wake up again.

Is not truly living being aware that your time is short? What do humans shy away from thinking about the end? As you said, it is inevitable, so why not give it its due acknowledgement?

It does feel good to wake up, though.

Yes it’s true that you must acknowledge the fact that we all will die. But we really don’t even know what death is. Maybe we don’t really die. Maybe we’ve been around forever. The fact is that we really don’t know much at all about death. It’s like believing in something that we really know anything about. Why not live as best we can with what we have, acknowledge that there could be an end to our existence and also acknowledge that we really don’t know, so anything goes. Be the best we can because we just don’t know. Lets try not to waste any precious time. Many people die very content although they don’t know whats coming. When you believe in things you don’t understand it can get very scary. Life is good.

Following you puddles. I like bizzare!

Anything goes! I definitely focus on this one all the time :) I like being thought of as bizarre, ‘cause mostly I think I am boring, so thank you!

I like your multiverse comment above. Free thinking, awesome
