Dayleeoga Day 18 | Because it’s never as bad as you imagine… Breath, Balance and TwistssteemCreated with Sketch.

Good morning you! Yes you! How are you feeling today? I hope you’re well. I hope you’re breathing deep this crisp morning air (if the morning air where you are is crisp) and I hope you’re taking a moment for yourself before the rest of the world wakes up, or before you start your busy day.

I get it, even though my body takes awhile to come around, my brain is usually like a bat out of hell as soon as I’m vertical. Things to do, what am I going to eat, do I need bananas from the shop? I wonder if there will be traffic if I go later, and do work now? That reminds me, that client needs messaging...

If you can, just take a moment to hush those thoughts, breathe deep through your nose and slowly out your mouth.

You are here.

Take a moment to honor the gravity of the fact that you get another 24 hours to try again. To make today better than yesterday, to show another creature kindness, and make their today better than their yesterday.

Today I’m sore and tired. Feeling dehydrated and groggy. I did almost this entire class with my eyes closed as a matter of fact. It was lovely. Felt not all the way awake, but in moving meditation. Breathing deep, focusing on balance, willing individual muscle groups to release through focus, feeling them unclench and melt.

dayle getting to the mat like...

I was intimidated by the length of this class and it’s label “Challenging Beginner”. That’s usually right about at my skill level but I’ve been taking extra care to be gentle with my back. Especially on the longer classes, If i push too hard and get tired I’m more likely to get sloppy with form and hurt myself.

This class was just what I needed though. It was slow and soft, deep meditative stretches and a nice meditation at the end. There was enough movement to get the blood and oxygen flowing to my sleepy corpse like form, but not enough that I was striving or struggling.

Deep thoughts?

I was thinking about some mountains during meditation. They were sharp and geometric, almost as if they were formed inspired by ancient cave drawings. In the video, I could hear a hawk caw in the distance, and I believe that this class was filmed near water. I was sure I could hear the sound of gentle waves.

Been thinking about the mountains more and more recently. Fresh air and quiet. Where the only thing you can hear is the crunch of your shoes across pebbles and leaves.

Damn I love the fall. Gotta head for the hills.

Well, that’s day 18 kids. Time to get to work! I’m going to be working on an epic fall playlist that I’ll be sharing here on steemit later today. But first, breakfast and a hot bath to soothes these sore muscles.

How was your yoga today? Didn’t do yoga? Go for a walk or a run? Tell me how you quiet your mind and start your day.

Sorry, no yoga or running and I never seem to quieten my mind. This part of my life needs more focus. I've got an inventive mind, constantly working on the 'next project', never switching off. Lots of mental nervous energy but no physical energy. Plus, on top of it all I had a major back spasm last week (3rd in 5 years). I'm a wreck! LOL ;)

My heart yearns for a long-term coastal retreat to help slow down and re-assess my goals. Bushcraft and foraging can become primary along side my family and no longer will I dwell in this concrete jungle of Leeds.

Understand having a brain like that 100%. Try meditation. If you can find a comfortable place to sit or lie, it's something, and I find that afterward I have such clarity and focus I can really execute on those strands always running in the background, take care of yourself! Back spasms are no joke- sorry to hear!

Thank you @dayleeo
On occasion, when I lie on the upstairs landing as a means to aid and recover from the pain back I sometimes fall asleep for a few moments. Who needs a bed? lol
Yeah, I will try meditation again (I did some about 8 years ago).

Thanks again for support and kind words :)
