Dad Tip of the Day
Dad tip of the day: Go conservative and don't be an optimist when it comes to shoulder holding after a feeding.
I am a natural optimist and it served me well in life... until recently. We drove 2 hours each direction to go to a 3 hour party last weekend so we were far from home. Kristine had just finished feeding Kendra and she burped fine, so she asked me to hold her for a second while she used the ladies room. Kristine asked if I wanted a shoulder cloth and I said no, it was only going to be a minute and she burped well - boy did I get burned. I got spit up all over my shirt, and this was the beginning of the party! Doh!
Well, it happened again at the end of the party. We had finished feeding Kendra 10 minutes prior and all was well so no burp cloth was needed. As I was holding her while Kristine was finding some poor soul who would be dragged in to take a family picture for us... BLAHH again! All over shirt again! Of course, Kristine laughed and wanted the picture anyway - can you tell I was trying to cover something up?!
Learn from my mistakes - play it safe out there, dads.
