Curie vs TravelFeed, SteemitWorldMap and eSteem Surfer

in curation •  2 months ago

I have a bit of a dilemma in terms of tags to use sometimes. I travel a lot and write a lot of travel articles. Like everyone else I would like to catch the eye of a @curie curator and receive even the 'minor' @curie love.

However, you really need something exceptional for this to happen and also your post needs to have a small amount of votes and rewards. How much this is exactly I think depends on the value of STEEM’; it may be a variable figure.

This brings me to the title subject. Hypothetically I have written a masterpiece, this content surpasses Shakespeare in terms of raw quality but is travel related and I want to share it with the Steemit community and its that good, @curie can’t fail to miss it.

The travel tag is mandatory, but what of the others incentives? Should I use @travelfeed and @steemitworldmap. My article is of such quality, it will surely get their eye?

0flnhsykvd.jpg

I go ahead and use those tags and many hours later it does indeed get the eye of these curation groups, and perhaps some other smaller ones. I am feeling good as my rewards are now around $4 and contain lots of votes due to multiple curation feeds.

But where is @curie? This is truly world beating content, and surely must have been have been noticed by the premiere, 'cream de la cream' of curation groups?

At this point, I’m thinking @curie has dismissed the masterpiece on the basis that it has broken the reward threshold and is now not admissible. They appear to be specific about this and it’s their rules, so what can we do about it?

Getting back to reality, I have had a ‘major’ @curie twice, and neither article has been travel related. If you have something you deem great and you want @curie love, I guess @travelfeed and @steemitworldmap will need to be forsaken.

My last @curie was upvoted by @esteemapp and @good-karma, but still got the @curie treatment. Maybe it was just under the threshold and I got lucky, or maybe I’m completely off with my assumptions above and what I’m writing is a load of old bollocks!

It’s a fine line you tread if you are a serial masterpiece creator and want that big love; maybe you just can't have your cake and eat it too?

Can someone from @curie let us all know some answers to my dilemma?

PS: This article is NOT travel related, Shakespeare material, a masterpiece, and I wont be be tagging @travelFeed or @steemitworldmap, but I will be tagging @esteem, even though @steevc tells me it’s not necessary for them to notice :)

Just sayin’

I have gotten a very few currie votes and think of them as gifts..... makes me happier that way.......
best advice I can give.

I don't really go out looking for such votes, but it's nice if they happen. I'd rather keep my tags relevant than just trying to attract those people. The tags tend to be messed up generally and I don't use them too much when looking for posts. Of course I do use #nobidbots, but that's just a sort of protest.

My last post got an esteem vote without the tag :)

Okay, so I could earn a few extra dollars from these trails, but I don't consider it worth much extra work.

·

travelfeed and steemitworldmap are worth using if they are relevant. I'll use whatever incentives are available to me, and after all they are looking for good posts and more than often they notice me.

These two give me a significant chunk of my votes quite often, and I love them for it.

·
·

I'm fortunate to have a few good people supporting my posts, so I'm not reliant on such services. I'm still happy to get their votes of course. I just wish these came with some real engagement. Often you don't get any more than an automated comment. I prefer readers to a load of 'dust' votes.

·
·
·

While travelfeed comments are generic, they are never automated - we are reading every post manually and sometimes leave a comment with our personal accounts - but leaving genuine comments for 30-50 posts is not possible and also not the purpose of travelfeed. Being featured by @travelfeed comes with a resteem to one of the biggest travel-interested follower bases on Steemit - we can't force interaction, but we give featured authors the opportunity to reach a large follower base, but it is upon them to get these readers to interact, for example by using a catchy caption, an outstanding thumbnail or a call to interaction at the end of the post, there are many ways.

While curie can be super motivating, it should be seen as a boost to get started on Steem, not as a permanent support. Apart from that - with all the curied posts I see in #travelfeed, I believe that we are not the only curators looking through the tag ;)

·
·
·
·

I just wonder if we need some other form of curation. If it's not encouraging interaction, then it's not really working. It's not just about the money.

·
·
·
·
·

No curation project can force interaction and that's also not the task of a curation project - instead, curation enables authors to reach interested readers, encouraging interaction is the task of the author

I think I'm somewhere in the middle steeve, too new to know the old crew, and too big for @curie. There's a response on the post, it's good info.

Considering I have finally started writing a blog which is based on my travels, this was seriously relevant. I must admit kind of a virgin when it comes on curation and tags.

Thanks, I will try this out on my next right up tomorrow.

I think it helps if you are on Steem.chat. @artgirl did it but I am lazy so I just post anything and never dreamed to be curied. I am lucky enough to have 3 SHORT posts upvoted by blocktrades $23, 25, and 67. 😁

I dislike selling. LOL! I am contented with busy and esteem's daily/weekly 0.10-1.000+ upvotes 😁 I dislike posting my personal life too, much more sharing my real face via dlive so it is now difficult for me to win surpassinggoogle's upvotes for #ULOG #teardrops #contest etc. 😁

I had the honour to receive several 'minor' curries on some of my music posts. Although I really apreciate it I don't write for those votes. It is a recognition of your writing :).. I struggle with the tags too, but mostly use the same every time..

I'm starting to wonder if the REP level also starts to dissuade the @curie vote? I've started to see much fewer curie votes, which can be a bit disappointing if you have spent a lot of time writing up a really good post that is quite worthwhile... I've come to the conclusion, that I'm outside the bracket for curie help, and that my post (whilst decent) wasn't as stunning as I thought it might be!

Oh well!

·

It's their project and rules, if we get it.. its a bonus, that's the way we need to look at it really.

·
·

Too right! It's nice when it comes, but it can't be an expected right!

I got a couple of curie votes when I first started posting, and they were a great boost to my confidence in Steemit. I thought my curie days were over, so I was quite surprised when I got one recently. They're always a lovely surprise. But I don't try to court curie as I don't think that's what they're for. I love the steemitworldmap - it's always there for me, and I always try to repay it in upvotes. I think the long-term support from some of the smaller communities can be just as beneficial as the occasional curie upvote.

·

and I always try to repay it in upvotes

Yes, I do this too, for all of them. If they get bigger, they benefit everyone who is worthy of their attention.

·
·

Exactly!

I think we all would like to know the answer to that question! A @curie upvote for me is like winning a lottery, always a lovely surprise :)

Don't forget to use their Discord channels to share your posts as well.

·

Yes, I do that but usually wait a little. Most of the up vote services want max curation and do their voting after the 30 minute threshold.

·
·

Actually not most, but about half of them or so. There is an overview of min/max post age as required by bots for their upvotes shown on Steem Bot Tracker developed by @yabapmatt, but you probably already know about this service. Just in case you don't, check it out.

One of the big mysteries of Steemit...Curie! Never know what will cause Curie to stop by and bless you with a vote. We all keep trying our best, write amazing content, that should bring a Curie vote. I can't figure it out myself! I didn't know travel content was the key...hmmm I'll remember that! Thanks@slobberchops :)

·

There's a response on my post from someone from @curie, have a look at it :)

Firstly, don't bother with the curie tag. I dont think any curie curators really look at it.

Secondly, curie will only upvote unrewarded authors to give them a boost. "Unrewarded" is subjective of course, but you are getting a good 4 or 5 $ per post at the moment with a $15 recently and your previous curie is 2 weeks ago. You dont really class as un-rewarded any more to be honest. Unless you do produce something truly exceptional, or are receiving low payouts (think sub $2 for a month or so) then you won't be picked up by a curie curator.

If your work is truly a masterpiece then you have enough curie curator followers that it will be noticed. That includes me.

·

Thanks for taking the time to respond Mark, I was hoping someone would see this who is suitably relevant. You pretty much answered my question. :)

·
·

FOR TSE: I used to know quite a few of the curie rules, but I see them breaking them more and more -- so there's no telling.

It used to be things like you needed consistently very low payouts, the post needed to be showing less than $5, you couldn't have had a post worth over a certain amount in the recent past, you had to have a rep under a certain level, the post had to be less than 24 hours old, curie couldn't have voted you in the last few months (or maybe ever -- that one seems to have changed), curie couldn't have featured a very similar post or one on a similar topic recently, etc.

(There used to be a lot of criticism that curie was a "one night in wonderland" experience. Maybe that's why they'll upvote a blog now more than once. Who knows?)

Plus, I understand from certain unhappy curie curators that they break the rules themselves for certain "favorites." Favorite curators, that is. The curators themselves are rewarded rather nicely for their discoveries and submissions. That suggests to me there's a lot of politics in it.

Yes, curie votes are very nice, but they're kind of haphazard. I see a lot of undervalued content that deserves them more than some they choose. IMO. I was real excited to find curie when I was very new on Steemit. I thought ---> Here at last is how to find the good stuff without slogging through all the crap.

The excitement didn't last.

You might want to focus your efforts in other directions ... and if the curie fairy passes over and drops you a gift ... consider it exactly that.

·
·
·

Yes, I'm going to do just that... focus in other areas. There may be many other @curie's soon, but I still love them for what I have received in the past.

Well, I'm not a currie member, and I obviously have no clue.

I don't write for or tag for currie. I just give it the best I've got and when one happens I relish it. I use travel for first tag and motorcycle sometime later. The rest are somewhat variable.

So. I don't know. I suspect that 'writing for' or 'tagging for' currie might be grounds for NOT getting the vote. They seem an independent lot.

·

@curie, @bigtom13 not currie! I could do with some curry though, Rogan Josh with rice and extra poppadoms? :)

You can't purposely gain @curie's attention as there is no tag, unless you use #curie which I don't.

I don't write in particular to gain their attention or vote, but it seems you need to have little attention for them to notice you. That's really what I'm getting at.

That's a lot of @curie talk , maybe someone from that realm will see this.

I don't know how true it is, but I had heard that @curie tends to pass on a lot of the travel blogs. They are looking for other original content I think. Again, that could just be hearsay. It has been a while since I have gotten one myself and I am pretty sure the ones I did get also were not on travel posts.

What I knew is only as much as you did @slobberchops, but currie will upvote base on quality exceptional contents, that mus be really exceptional: No Steemit things, no politics, no religious, no crypto things as well. you can use any tag you want, you can write anything you like, but it will be much better if you write something you know very well, write it in detail, specific, and must have high quality photos. your pending payout must below $5 ( i guess now), the curie curator work really hard to find good quality content, if you want to see how good quality content which has curie love you can check on this link : https://steemit.com/curie/@curie/curators-review-august-2018, if you want to know more about how good of content curie will upvote you can check in their discord channel: https://discord.gg/axfYqu. the up votes itself are vary depend on the review from the curator group. Wish you can get it.

one more thing: Curie will upvote the post between 150 minutes and less than 24 hours

How to get it?: Your post must have original exceptional content with detail and complete photograph, I knew travel feed curator also curie curator, and most of curie curator are always looking for high quality contents. So you will get it. I am sure

·

Thanks for the link @el-nailul, one of these guys did respond to the post so I have my answers now.

I found this in a Discord chanels, upvoted. :-)

·

I'm looking for opinions on the content, not just a 'trade-votes'.

·
·

Just appreciate what you write.

·
·
·

In that case, thanks. I get a lot of these kind of comments and I try to educate first and foremost about them.

·
·

I do not mean 'trade-votes' mate.

That's interesting didn't know curie, is there any specific rules you have to fulfill before they curate you? like @travelfeed you use the tag and it has to be like travel. Is there anything along those lines for curie?

Posted using Partiko Android

·

No tag, they will find you if what you write is good enough.

You have to go to the Curie posts and look for their curators. That's what I did before. The most important is to interact here in order to be found.

Curie is the best curator on Steemit. Afaik they do not get involved in Steemit politics. They have their own rules of upvoting posts.

It should not be expected that they will upvote all quality posts. It can be a priviledge but is not something to be expected. They do their best just like the rest of us.

Just check on their posts to find out more, or ask in one of their posts. Pls do a Steemit search for more info.

Interact? Ah yeah I used to leave comments on blocktrades' new posts but not on curie's because I don't know what to say 😁
