Crystal healing: a brief history of crystal healing.

in #crystals7 years ago (edited)

My interest in semi-precious stones started when I saw my mother's collection of jewelries. I was attracted by the various colours of semi-precious stones on a traditional old Thai ring called Nopparut ring. This is very old designed Thai rings with nine colours semi-precious stones, cut in cabochon style. An old relative gave me a Nopparut ring as a present and I was supposed to keep it till I became a grown up with fatter fingers so that the ring would fit one of my fingers. Unfortunately the ring was stolen from the drawer a few years later. I was very disappointed with the theft and no grown ups bothered to replace my little ring for me!

Several years went by and I forgot all about the precious ring until one day a distant Chinese relative came to visit us. He seemed like an adventurer who traveled into wild places up in the country and went to mining areas where people dug for rubies and other precious stones. He looked like an old western cowboy from the gold mine in the outback. He brought a small packet out of his pocket and unwrapped it for us. They were several pieces of sparkling and shiny stones in his hand. I wanted to choose one or two pieces straight away. But he said he would sell them very cheaply for me.

Therefore, that's my first purchase of semi-precious stones with my own savings when I was about twelve years old. I chose two pieces of yellow sapphire without knowing anything about sapphire. I bought those crystals for the sake of their colours and beauty. A few years past by and I forgot where I hid my stones. Then, one day I realised they were stolen again! I was very disappointed and promised myself that one day when I became an adult with my own money I would replace all my lost stones.

Other worldly interests have occupied me for years and I was busy with growing up and studying for my future. One fine summer day. I walked around a Sunday market, a lady with very striking look in her eyes and face was selling lots of stones in all shapes, colours and sizes. I thought her stall was the most beautiful display I have ever seen for rocks and stones. I bought a few small crystals, some purple and clear quartz, including few pieces of Bostwana agates. I did visit the crystal stall a few times to chat with that interesting lady. I found out that she came from South Africa and she had lots of big rocks and crystals in her home. She was very psychic and seemed to be able to read my mind.

I still didn't pay much interest in crystal as a healing tool or mediation tool; I only knew I liked their colours so I liked to hold them in my hands. My obsession with crystals started about ten years ago when I was introduced to a crystal shop by my close friends. It was funny that I became closer friend to the owners of the shop while my friends had drifted off the circle. That was the beginning of serious research, experiments and taking courses in crystal healing. Crystals energy have led me to know other non-Thai healers and psychics! I begun to learn to communicate with crystals and have become somewhat more psychic than before. I have impressed various crystal-shop owners and they all gave me very good prices for big rocks! It was a very absorbing phase of my life and very rich learning process too. I am very grateful to all the rocks and crystals to have traveled across the world to be within my reach.

This video gives a very nice explanation about the history of human relationship with crystals which began thousands of years ago.

Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.

Cheers.

Hi @crystalandhawaii. Thank you for stopping by my post. You may not have seen this on on yellow/lemon quartz. I am addicted to crystal energy and colours!

It may be possible to gild pure gold, but who can make his mother more beautiful?

I loved reading about your experiences. I am drawn to yellow stones, but I also love smoky quartz and I have a huge laboradite pendant which helps when my stress levels are too high. I have also had the unfortunate experience of evil trapped in slices of agate. A customer sold it to me and I left it in a box in a drawer (very unusual for me). I forgot about them, but wanted to give them to my daughter. She didn't want anything to do with them. I tried to "clean" it and then left it in my room. The next morning my daughter said she had the most awful night with an evil spirit of a woman who crouched next to her bed. I quickly got rid of the agate, and the woman didn't return.

Wow! quite an ordeal, dealing with bad energy in stones!
Good choice of stones @onetree, for both are very protective and always 'good' for you even though they may feel exhausted from time to time. I once asked one of the best crystal healers about the one stone she would choose for herself. She said 'smokey quartz!'
For laboradite, this is also my favourite crystal. Highly protective and magical. I always have them close to me.

Good job, you got rid of the bad agate! Stones have memories of their owners and surroundings. I almost threw up in a Chinese man's storage room full of unwashed stones; I could hardly breath and felt an acute headache. I had to run out of the door to breathe and recollect myself. Then, with conscious determination I entered the room and did something to stop their disrespect! It did work and I stayed there for almost three hours.
Another time was when my friend proudly showed me the latest imported stones. As soon as he opened the brown package, I ran outside the shop to throw up! I told him where the stones came from and the conditions or surroundings under which these stones had been handled. He was shocked as I was correct about the source of these stones. I told him to wash these stones at once. He took some time to clean these and came back to show them to me again; all the negative vibs were gone.

Always listen to your inner voice and intuition; you are very sensitive and psychic, and so is your family. Some stones are just beyond our ability to help them, some are just too nasty and aggressive. I always stay away from bad stones. It's funny how I only go into some crystal shops; there used to be lots of crystal gurus and shops in Bangkok a few years ago. Nowadays, crystals business is very slow and prices have become more affordable.

I think you know how to handle the stones with bad attitudes very well. Stay away from 'mad dogs'.

Cheers.

Here is the "bad" agate. The sunshine didn't help. My cat went straight to them.

And my favourite pendant.

You are encouraging me to trust my intuition more. Thank you.

This is a very nice pendant! Love this one, so very elegant and gentle yet very powerful protector. @onetree, your cat is amazing, I just love this cat!
These agates are quite old and well battered and very sick! Sunshine will not help. These stones are too far gone with a lot of sadness, pain and bitterness. These should be buried very deep in the earth for many years to let karmic law work things out. They carry the owners' memories with a lot of attachment. I send them loving kindness but karma dictates the ending. So, what you did was right for the well being of your family.

Keep up the inner voice and listen quietly.
Cheers.

This is pretty interesting stuff. But does it actually work?
I read something about crystal healing a while back on crystalopedia . It said that these have nothing much to do with scientific principles and didn't work so it made me question things.
Anyways, nice to know its history
