Trying To Sell Bitcoin Cash On Coinbase For My Upcoming Holidays in Tirol Was A Big Mess! SBD&STEEM Made It Possible Anyways!
I had the right instincts to sell fast and knew that it would be a good time for me to get rid of some Bitcoin Cash, when it hit close to a smashing 4k on December 20th.
Amazing deal, I thought and at the right time for my well deserved little mountain holidays in Lienz with @vieanna BUT Coinbase Inc. wouldn't allow me to exchange to Euro to send to my bank account and today I found out that it went down to 3.4k.
They are all Some kind of jokers!

I lived on an island, celebrating mostly Hinduh traditions, much more than Christian ones and I couldn't see myself chasing for those trees, decorate, bake and run shopping for presents, among masses under steroids to get the right gift in last minute.
Last year I really enjoyed Vienna in December and had a lovely time with my daughter but this year, I decided to leave the European X Mas madness aside and fulfil one of my wishes to ski in the Dolomite mountains with extra cash in my pocket. Skiing is expansive these days as I was told. A sale for some of my BCH would have made it possible.
Lienz is waiting anyways....... See are leaving on Dec. 22nd and offline for a bit!
What happened with BCH Coinbase Transactions?
Here is what I found out online, after being all excited that Coinbase enabled Bitcoin Cash. I moved it out of my Exodus wallet, paid my fee and was ready to do the sale, to be informed that its not possible. Today I even got another message that I better sell smaller amounts, to "assure to get a fair price I should break it down".
Dec.20th,2017: "I dont care how you slice it, this is INSIDER TRADING! Someone with alot of Bitcoin knew "coinbase" would add Bitcoin Cash BCH and took one BIG chunk of profit from the "flippening". Coinbase halts Bitcoin Cash transactions amidst accusations of insider trading
Coinbase has launched an internal probe to identify whether its employees engaged in insider trading of Bitcoin Cash shortly before the cryptocurrency was officially introduced to the exchange yesterday. Increased trading led to a spike in Bitcoin Cash’s valuation, and just four hours after its introduction, Coinbase suspended trading of the digital currency.
I like things to be simple but this is too much hussle for a so called "mainstream and still kind of new " crypto-girl like me. I wonder, when it will change, to simplify such transactions in general.
I gave up selling and now I sit on my coins at coinbase.

Bitcoin Cash became the third largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin and Ether in terms of market cap and its value has steadily risen from $1,500 last month.
You see, those kind of BS things, I don't really understand, nor like and still puzzles me in this crypto world. There are too many exchange operations who seem like criminals to me. Am I wrong?
I hope that Coinbase will come out with an explanation soon.

I mentioned about my story a few times that I am still chasing @poloniex for my bitcoin, lost due to an unauthorised withdrawal, I never approved. Anyways, now its gone with the winds and nobody replies to my tickets since May.
This time Coinbase messed up my extra cash for my Christmas!
Not cool!
Since June 2016 I do not power down ever and since STEEM is my preferred coin, I hold for longterm.
I will just forget the additional skiing adventure and go sliding :) instead.

Stories like yours are such very good advertisements for DEX's (decentralized exchanges such as bitshares) as opposed to CEX's (centralized exchanges such as Coinbase).
But many, many people seem to have learned nothing from history (mt.gox - and all the other exchanges that have been hacked or fractional reserved, or crashed and burned with customers assets for other reasons).
And bitshares is based on the same technology as steem!
You are absolutely right and I have learnt my lesson early enough.
Still studying and choosing where I will stay!

Just to add on top, what being said about centralized exchange. They are free to manipulate the buy and sell of trades. Love it or hate it, we still depend on them buy some position in the currency we believe in.

That being said, I believe many of us here also have similar frustration of being opposite of where you are. Aren't able to get into position during correction. Thus, missing out on the opportunity on the uptrend.

hey Momma. The gains in crypto is insane right now and I’m having issues going to local currency as well. One solution I found was that a lot of gold silver stores are accepting crypto. I ordered
some stuff and can exchange it at any coin shop.
This sounds very interesting. I need to look into such option. Any suggestions where you can order online?

I agree about the insider job but at the end of the day, I think your money will only double up for you... At least I am praying for that!

Its get even more complicated if you want to sell altcoins back to usd/eur. mostly you have to change your "less known" altcoins to "more known coins" which is highly bothersome.
Exactly! Even a bigger mess indeed. Thats why I focus on the more well known coins for now. I got a few alts for trading fast but I am not really good with this, yet :)

About a client who paid for an item with BTC, transaction still "PENDING" from December 12th.
I wish there was a similar purchase, sell, transfer option to Coinbase (with merchant applications)...I would switch in a heartbeat.

One of the biggest opportunities for all cryptocurrencies is liquidity and ease of use. It's wrinkles like the one that you experienced that will need to be ironed out before crypto can really become mainstream.

Thanks to other coins I sold just before they all went down but it takes Coinbase way too long to send my Fiat currency.
I am planning to buy gold online in the future with my coins and learn how to use bitshares ( DEX) I am done with those damn centralized criminal Exchange places. Did you read about Bitfinex? They might freeze our accounts if we don’t verify it. Taxes are chasing all of us soon
