🗞 India: Bank Blockchain Consortium Targets Improvements to Small Business Financing

Banks in India are collaborating on a new blockchain platform to remove financing hurdles for micro, small and medium size businesses (MSMEs), local daily news outlet Economic Times reported Jan. 28.

A total of eleven banks — including second-biggest lender Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India and ICICI Bank — are already meeting to discuss the implementation of a platform that will make it easier for businesses with smaller turnover to raise funds transparently.

🗞 Binance’s BitTorrent Token Sale Sells Out in Minutes Amid Technical Issues

A public sale of 59.8 billion BitTorrent Tokens (BTT), worth roughly $7.2 million, sold out in a matter of minutes on Binance’s Launchpad earlier today, despite technical difficulties that frustrated some users.

At 3:00 UTC, the token sale platform opened its doors to BTT investors through two separate sale sessions, one for those paying with the token native to the Tron blockchain, TRX, and the other for those paying with Binance’s native exchange token, BNB. Each BTT token was valued at $0.00012 during the sales, according to sale information posted on Binance’s website.

BTT is the first token in BitTorrent’s 17-year history. The decentralized file-sharing service was acquired by Tron last summer and plans for BTT, which runs on Tron’s blockchain, were rolled out in a white paper earlier this month.

🗞 Crypto Mining Could Bring Russia $1B in Taxes, Report Suggests

Using its excess energy generating capacity to mine cryptocurrencies, Russia can increase its budget receipts by more than $1 billion dollars in annual tax revenue. The estimate comes from a report that also calls for the establishment of a Russian crypto valley.

Russia’s electrical surplus last year reached 20 GW. According to the study conducted by industrial mining solutions provider Bitcluster, that’s enough energy to power 14.8 million of the popular Antminer S9i ASIC devices. If Russia uses the excess electricity to mint digital coins, the state would receive 70 billion rubles (over $1 billion) just from VAT, the authors claim.

🗞 Iran Could Ban Bitcoin for Payments, Central Bank Report Suggests

The Central Bank of Iran appears set to prohibit “unapproved” cryptocurrencies from being used for payments in the country, a draft report obtained by CoinDesk states.

According to a translation of the report entitled “Obligations and Rules Regarding Cryptocurrencies,” “any cryptocurrency wallets will be used only for holding and transferring cryptocurrencies and integrating any kind of services in wallets using cryptocurrencies is forbidden.”

If the plan is ultimately approved, the central bank will effectively seek to block the use of unapproved cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. However, the report indicates that the Central Bank of Iran will not directly restrict anyone from personally holding or transferring small amounts of approved cryptocurrency.

🗞 The Ethereum Name Service Wants To Keep Auction Proceeds … But For Good Reason

Chris Remus, project manager for the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), recently posted a summary of three proposals the team is considering as it moves toward its three-to-six-character auction and permanent registrar. The ENS proposes to (1) hold all the funds it receives for the time being, (2) implement a sliding fee scale for domain names based on their character length, and (3) institute a 60-day window between when the auction begins and when the permanent registrar is deployed.

Back in December 2018, Remus announced the ENS' upcoming three-to-six-character domain auction. Currently, individuals can only claim .eth domains comprised of seven characters or longer, a decision made to discourage speculators looking to land-grab shorter, potentially more valuable names. When the announcement was made, though, one vocal reddit user claimed that the auction's tentative design was problematic, especially because the ENS would keep the bid proceeds in excess of operational costs, rather than return them to auction participants. This setup is in contrast to the current model, in which all deposits for .eth domain names are refunded at the end of the rental period.

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yesterday :

Here is the current chart :

As I was afraid yesterday, we tested again the support line around 0.31$ but we broke it in 1 time... We are now under that line and it is really not a good sign. We could try to go back upper in the coming hours but if we are not able to quickly do it, the next objective will be the next support line around 0.23$... Really not a good news but we can hope that we won't break that low... let's see !
