TOKENOMIX CONTEST - Win MAPX tokens - Round 4 of 10

in #cryptography5 years ago

The new MAPX tokens were issued recently. To continue promoting the token and to have a bit of fun exploring all the other tokens on Steem Engine, we're starting a TOKENOMIX CONTEST. The contest is scheduled to run for 10 rounds, with a round every 2 days, so will last just over 20 days.

Before launching into the rules, a reminder that full details of the MAPX token can be found at: New MAPX Token for Upvotes and Value Growth.

In brief, each staked MAPX token entitles the owner to a daily upvote, compounded rewards reflected in an increasing token price plus some random bonuses.

Although similar to MAP Rewarder, MAPX offers a low entry cost of just one token, currently about 1 STEEM, compared to a minimum delegation of 50 SP. MAPX also compounds all rewards so that each token is backed by SP; owners can thus accumulate rewards and sell their token whenever they wish rather than receiving weekly payouts.

Enough preamble, let's move on to the rules.

TOKENOMIX CONTEST RULES

There have been a few rules changes, especially 6-9, so please re-read these.

  1. To enter, you must stake at least 1 MAPX token.
  2. All staked MAPX tokens will receive the standard upvote so will gain something even without winning free tokens.
  3. Unstaking takes just 2 days to release all staked tokens.
  4. The contest shall consist of 10 rounds, each posted every 2 days.
  5. Each round shall consist of a question that requires an answer to be posted in a comment.
  6. Each round shall last for 3 days (approximately 72 hours) or until there are 10 correct answer, whichever comes first.
  7. The first correct answer from a staked username shall win 1 MAPX token.
  8. All staked users that have given a correct answer, and subject to (6) shall be included in a random draw done online with the result published as a comment.
  9. The winner of the draw shall receive 1 MAPX token as a prize.
  10. A user may win more than one prize.

TOKENOMIX CONTEST

Question 4

Below is the cyphertext of a message encoded using a Vigenere Cipher. The encryption key is one of the tokens listed on Steem Engine.

Pli djwahn xldp csx oiin ew xka xsnar wbifso ZGQGP.

This time you will need to give 2 answers: the encryption key and the token within the decrypted message.

Hint: there are plenty of tools online to solve Vigenere Ciphers through brute force periodic frequency analysis :-)

Also, don't forget that Question 3 will close tomorrow, 19 June.

That's it! Just submit your answer in a comment... and please don't forget to buy and stake at least 1 MAPX token to participate. Existing MAPX stakeholders can obviously just enter.

If I've forgotten anything in the rules, just ask in a comment.

Enjoy!

The Vigenere Cipher code decryption thing attracted my attention.
I'm in no way familiar with Vigenere Cipher code, so i would have never found the answer if it weren't for @christiands.

But knowing the encryption key was 'weed', I went to look up an online decoder and decoded the message ('The answer that you seek is the token symbol DCMDT'). Fascinating, to say the least.
There's something to play with :0)

What is Vigenere Cipher code used for? I think I remember seeing it being used in some games on SteemIt last year...

I love it too!
All the codes was invented to send encrypted messages during wars. This code is also used during American Civil War.

Yeah, for a long time it was considered uncrackable and can only be done by brute-force frequency analysis, hence can be done by computers. I think that if the keyword is longer than the message it remains uncrackable, eg. use the first paragraph from a book as the keyword.

But how did it work before they had computers, then? And is it now crackable without a computer? (probably silly questions, but my brain is fried at the moment, lol)

I didn't know that. Another thing learned today 👍

WEED is the key. DCMDT the token.

That's great! As the first correct answer, I am sending you 1 free MAPX token.
It is now possible to directly stake a token and send it at the same time - this saves everyone time and, if you wish to unstake, then it only takes 2 days.

Congratulations!

Update: seems not to have worked, indeed, seem unable to stake in general. I shall just send you the token :-)

Thank you very much! Interesting contest. I’m looking forward for the next round!

Cheers! Hope you don't mind, I'm just waiting a few minutes in case Steem Engine has a bug and not processing staking. Will try again soon.

Received! Most grateful to you. Cheers!

Am running slightly behind in these contests, but never mind, was hoping for a few more answers. So... just 2 go into today's draw... coming up!
