🗞 Korea's Exchange Hacks: What the Country's Crypto Scene Is Saying

The past two weeks have seen two South Korean exchanges get attacked and robbed, sparking commentary and critique among the country's local cryptocurrency community.

It began with the Coinrail hack on June 9. At the time, the popular South Korean cryptocurrency exchange tentatively announced a "cyber intrusion" that saw the loss of $40 million worth of cryptocurrencies.

🗞 Andreessen Horowitz Launches a16z crypto Fund, Adds Kathryn Haun As General Partner

Indicating its belief in blockchain/cryptocurrency developers and entrepreneurs, venture capital (VC) firm Andreessen Horowitz (also called a16z) announced on Monday the launch of a $300 million investment fund, a16z crypto. The dedicated fund will allow a16z to bypass a frustrating cap that most VC funds face today. As recode explained last week, VC funds are "legally limited to hold no more than 20 percent of their money in assets that are liquid securities, such as cryptocurrencies."

🗞 Switzerland Creates Working Group to Help Blockchain Companies Open Bank Accounts

The Financial Director of Zug, Switzerland, Heinz Tännler called on the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) to create a working group to help blockchain companies open bank accounts, local news outlet cash.ch reported June 26.

Since blockchain and crypto companies face difficulties with opening bank accounts in the country, Tännler together with the Financial Director of Zurich Ernst Stocker brought the issue to the attention of Federal Council Ueli Maurer. Tännler is reportedly concerned about the risk of losing business to countries with more friendly banking environments.

At the Bahamas Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Conference last week, the Bahamian deputy prime minister, K. Peter Turnquest, announced the Caribbean nation intends to create a national digital currency and use blockchain technology to reduce corruption.

🗞 ING Bank Survey Reveals Interest In Crypto Will Double In Near Future

Research company Ipsos on behalf of ING Bank B.V. has conducted a study on how cryptocurrencies are perceived across Europe, Australia and the U.S., which reveals that interest in the technology is expected to double in the future.

While only 9 percent of respondents own crypto, 25 percent said they will own some in the future. The highest percent (18 percent) of crypto ownership is reported in Turkey, while the lowest (4 percent) is in Luxembourg.

I expect the return of a little UP as the BTC should also continue its bounce but keep in mind that we don't have a strong support at the current level and a drop could come back very quickly and powerfully...
