Cryptocurrencies with no mining - option or focus on steem only?steemCreated with Sketch.

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Having discovered ups and downs with investing in only a few crypto currencies and learned to steem recently other altcoins are on my radar now too. Sure most of the Steemians here know much more about them but here is what i found about cryptocurrency that can NOT be mined - so the next generation of crypto currencies?

Has anyone here'd invested in one of the following yet? Most seem quite valuable even without mining incentive. Added current 7 day performance  as well.

1. NXT

Nxt is an open source cryptocurrency and payment network using proof-of-stake to reach consensus for transactions. Means there is  static money supply and no mining. Nxt has an integrated Asset Exchange, messaging system and marketplace. Users can even create new currencies within the system.  So users are able to forge new coins, but no hardware is required to do so. User need to have open wallets ans will earn small amounts of interest in the process.

2. WAVES

WAVES makes use of a delegated and leased proof-of-stake algorithm and all WAVES token have been premined. The entire token supply will never jump over the 100 million mark - even users can mine token via mobile devices and usual computers.  Please tell me how that works or is controlled? I am a total noob sometimes - actually WAVES just launched a BTC gateway.

3. MAIDSAFE

MaidSafe is from Scotland and like Waves offer tokens that all have been issued over 2 years ago. The tokens are called Safecoin and there is no mining, no new tokens will be generated. All open-source based, de-centralized. Safecoins may be earned, traded or purchased nd is based on the Proof of Resource algorithm

Curious to see what the future brings - with or without mining. Please share your thoughts and experience. Feel free to tell me this is all useless and I should focus on STEEM.

@uwelang, I am also a newcomer to this world... until I came to Steemit with the intention to blog/write, all I knew of cryptocurrencies was a very basic understanding of Bitcoin, and awareness that "Bitcoin clones" existed. That was all.

It's a very interesting process of learning. I think Steemit is a great concept because it's based around something less technical a wider audience can readily understand and use-- creating content. When I first looked at Bitcoin some years back, my impression was that it was the territory of a technical elite only. Things have clearly changed!

Welcome denmarkguy,

Looks like the Creator Satoshi Nakamoto did his/hers part. Just a few quick references if you hadn't already seen it. You have come to the right platform (Steemit) while constantly picking up a few golden nuggets. I enjoy your enthusiastic discussions in a lot of the post that I come across, a good egg.

Steem on,
Frank

I went ahead and corrected to his/hers.

Thanks

@cassidyandfranks, thanks-- I'll check it out. I'm always interested in exploring/developing "everyday implementation" of new inventions.

Thanks @denmarkguy - had the same experience some years ago when a buddy convinced me into a currency way better as BTC - highly trusted him so I gave it a go - turned out this was a total scam. Since then i have been very cautious and therefore doing more own research and ask everyone i can - not easy to judge though as everyone might have different interest

If you don't know me by now. I strongly believe in "thirds rule strategy"
You can even google it.

Steem on,
Frank

Tell me more then - I came across your profile @cassidyandfranks but not aware of a "thirds rule strategy" - googled it and found your steemit post - i might contact you then via steemit.chat

I will be doing another follow up "thirds rule strategy" next week after the HF17 since my original one can no longer be edited or replied to after 30days from original post.
