Desktop wallet - These are downloaded onto your desktop and kept there. However these aren't the securest as your computer could be hacked or get a virus and your coins will be in danger.

Online wallet - These are made my companies such as coinbase and myetherwallet, these are much safer than the previous but they aren't the best!

Hardware wallet - These are by far the safest and easiest way to store your crypto, Ledger nano s is the the most popular and you can currently get one for $65. It is basically a secure USB stick which you can put your crypto on and then unplug from your computer and store away, if you want to move them around you must have the Ledger nano on you and plug it back into your computer.

One final tip which is essential is when you do use a exchange make sure you have 2 factor verification on!
