Anyone ever panhandle so you can buy crypto ?

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

Living on the streets sometimes you cant help but ask others for money. Every day is struggle, most of the time just trying to get food in your stomach. Luckily, at least I have a car to live in, but even then there are major costs involved in keeping the car active. Living in Canada the winters are harsh and it can get down to minus 50. Nevertheless, to all those people who have endured homelessness, have you ever begged for money and spent it on crypto instead of food or its originally intended purpose ?

I am truly going through some trying times and I am doing some deep soul searching. With that being said, I do not know if my love for crypto has come to a climax or if there are others out there that are as in to crypto as I am. Healthy or not, I just hope that one day that crypto can get me off the streets. For some reason, when I am sober, I seem to come and spend a lot of time on steem and furthermore on crypto. I guess it takes my mind off of wanting to get high. Deep down I know I will never be able to get a job if I cant pass a piss-test, so smoking weed right now is out of the question, I guess it is one addiction or the other. The last time I went nuts on crypto and lost everything I was sober. Then I went back to smoking weed and I was able to turn it all off. Now its all coming flooding back to me.

Please let me know what you think.

I've never been homeless but I appreciate you sharing your experiences. Everything works in moderation and it sounds like you're getting to that point. Anyways man, please keep us updated!

I guess once you experience homelessness as a child, it becomes a lot easier when you are an adult. Thanks for the kind words. So unless someone sets my car on fire while I am sleeping - happens here once in a while and is one of my biggest fears of car dwelling, I will make sure to make regular updates.

Really hoping Steemit works out for you. Best of luck. I'll definitely be following

I've spent thousands of hours, wrote hundreds of posts and haven't made a dime. I guess it is the definition of insanity. I keep trying the same thing "steem" and expect a different result. I use to spend hours writing some posts, not to get a single upvote. I have stopped doing that as much and now just come here to vent. Steem isn't about the content anymore. Steem has morphed into toxic environment where it is all about the you scratch my back ill scratch yours methodology. Its sad because it had sooo much potential and now @dan is too busy with EOS, to give a shit about steem.

Thanks for reading :)

Yeah, I see what you mean. Do you think the culture can change for the better?

Remuneration based on quality of work and readership, rather than whales upvoting each others nonsensical posts. Making the content from steem viewable on other popular blogs. More advanced search engine optimization, so that posts make their through more organic google searches. Limitations to the amount of steem one user can have. There are so many shortfalls .

Yeah these are great suggestions. I'm kinda banking on these changes to take effect sometime in the near future. I feel like we have to see some big shifts if we're going to attract a more mainstream audience.

Once the mainstream media and others start treating crypto as more of an investment, instead of gambling joke, I think than more people from outside the crypto space will get on board. Sadly right now the only people making money on steem are the people who have large hoards of it and use it to bribe others to upvote their posts,

I’m not sure what to think of you, or your situation, but you seem to be pretty pathetic. I don’t mean that maliciously, I just mean that I’m thankful that I am not in your position. We are all at odds with the world that surrounds us. Some of us sum up the odds and succeed, and some of us just fade away and die. I hope that you succeed. If you were anywhere near me, I’d give you a job, and pay you 10 bucks an hour to be the person that you are I believe that others would do the same. It’s up to you. You are the master of your Fate. What will it be???

Not everyone has the same upbringing, I have a medical condition where I will never have the luxury of having a child or a mate. Sadly we live in a world where other peoples opinions dictate what we do and how we live. If this wasn't the case, I wouldn't be as discourage as I am and would probably be working. Sadly no one wants to hire a person that looks like the second coming of the elephant man (I have a condition called neurofibromatosis), to be their accountant. I just wish I knew this before spending 6 years on school and training. If one of my professors came out and sad that I didn't look the part on day one, I would have went with a trade. Sadly I went through the whole process, to be told that I "don't look the part" from some airhead at Robert-half, which is a placement agency for accountants after I did the work and graduated at the top of my class.

Having a bachelor degree and an accounting designation, I am sure there are a lot more options available to me that pay much better than $10/hour. I am homeless not retarded.

Well I wish you the best of luck. Sorry for your misfortune.

This is completely wrong. It is fallacious thinking. Unreasonable. Listen, I've been following you for a while. I do not have to be a genius to tell you that the way you're seeing the problem is the problem. I despise self-pity and think you need to change your outlook.
First of all, you need to leave behind the pain and misfortune that was your childhood. Secondly, you need to understand that you are the only one responsible for your life. You and only you will decide what becomes of yourself.

  1. Go to church and look Divine help. If you have tried everything, then you have nothing to lose by genuinely seeking help from your Creator.
  2. Start working. I don't mean get a job (someone hire you). What I mean is go to the nearest construction site, pick up a hammer and tell contractor "I want to work; pay or not." If he rejects you, go on to the next one until you find one. Or look for any need in your town, find a way to resolve that need "pay or not." When you push energy into the universe, it will come back and reward you eventually.
    WORK ≠ MONEY.
    MONEY ≠ RESOURCES.

I am being as direct as possible, because you need to understand that self-pity is self destruction. I will not encourage any self-pity. In a way that means I care for you. You can reprogram yourself.

I have been homeless. What I did: I bought a fishing pole and a tackle box with what little money I had. I drove my 20 year old car to the nearest lake, and started fishing. I made a fire, caught a fish and cooked it. Slept in my car and went to look for a job in a street corner where Hispanics would wait for daily odd jobs.

Btw... I already had a college degree too when I was staying at the lake homeless. Get your ass up and do something. I mean that in the best of ways.
